Re: British Train Drivers Handbook?
Most train operators now have Professional Driving Policies and handbooks that govern a lot of things you'd be after such as coupling, how to approach a red signal etc, although a lot is still burned in the various traction manuals. Either way all the current stuff is very much private and not for p...

Re: Southern 4CIG Signal Bell
The prototype would have a signal bell for the ready to start signal from the guard. The driver would acknowledge back using the signal button on the loudaphone.

Re: 4-VEP coming soon from RSC - Now Out
Well, it behaves in the same way as the CIG I was driving earlier today and as described in the manual for both units. :-? One clear of the cache later and all is well - certainly the brakes are in line with the CIG now.. That said, sound wise the model is still lacking - although I have to confess...

Re: 4-VEP coming soon from RSC
Are you sure? On my install it's a straight air brake - not notched EP brake and then auto brake further up...malkymackay wrote:Had a spin with the VEP & no surprises, it behaves just like the CIG, including the brakes.

Re: 4-VEP coming soon from RSC
Seems to be out - just purchased and downloaded. Only had a 15 minute run out of Pompey Harbour to play with but: Gone is the prototypical EP / Auto brake set up of the CIG. And what's with the motor whine when coasting? Model wise all OK, although NSE livery looks a little off. Hate to say it, this...

MK3 Sleeper Coach re-skinned to FGW ‘Night Riviera’
Hmm... Would that really be prototypical? I thought they didn't switch to Mk3 seating cars before after they changed to the current livery on the rolling stock, so that in the 'Fag pack' era it'd still have been aircon'd Mk2s as seating cars? There was a brief period (late 2006-2009 I think) when w...

Re: Railworks on Mac via Bootcamp or Parallels
I use a 2011 MacBook Pro 17 as my main computer here at home. It has a bootcamp partition running Win7 x64 for the purposes of Railworks and a few other games, although the MacBook Pro isn't my main gaming machine. Firstly, any laptop is going to be compromised in comparison to a half decent desktop...

New PC - Would this work?
The reason I want a high FPS that's well over the 30FPS mark is because I do video recording with FRAPS. At the moment with, say, MSTS I can get 30FPS on low spec routes but hit record and it's down to an awful 14FPS, so really I'd like to average 50-60FPS maybe just to give a gap for the reduction...

New PC - Would this work?
Now you lost me  I thought Quad Core 2 was descent enough? I'm not up with all this so I don't know, I've just 'heard' they run well for processing The actual link refers to a Pentium Dual Core chip. The Pentium processor core has been around since the mid 90s, although vastly improved over ti...

Class 421 4CIG - Coming Soon
It was the numbering commencing in 1- that was based on the TOPS class code - e.g. 1706 was 421706. Ah of course, I forget pre-TOPS they wouldn't have been classified Class 421 when built, just as 4CIGs :) But does that mean 7364 would have received the number 1364 under TOPS? Nope, far from it. Th...
