I am fan of the Southern slam-door units, but the new stock doesn't interest me.

Are you doing the Southern Belle slam-door farewell Railtour a week on Saturday?

This is a non-news story. When someone I knew joy rided a car, crashed into a tree and ended up dead did the Sun report it? Of course not! The Sun would much rather claim EWS drivers wear "orange suits", exaggerate the speed of passing trains (that has no relevance to the story at all) because they ...

The thought of arriving there by car seems rather ironic and sad to me. :(

Anyone else on the 0735 from Doncaster? And hopefully the 0907 from Manchester (but tight connection, we may end up getting the 0928).

(Before anyone says Stockport, it's closed... as usual)

There is talk of a national railcard for 26 - 60 year olds which might take over the rover tickets. Why instead of? that would be a very poor move. If they get rid of rover tickets, it will be a disaster for enthusiasts. I would hope a massive campaign would be launched IF they attempted such...

Nice photos. :) I love the West Highland Line! Did you do Glenfinnan viaduct on a 156 (looks like it)? I've done it on a 156 and the Jacobite, but it's still possible to get a pic out of the window on a 156 by holding your camera out (being careful not to drop it - make sure you hold onto the strap)...

i really like the 2 of leeds at night. How the hell did you get the first one not to blur? I was wondering if anyone would spot that! Actually I was very lucky. Firstly I was on my way back from Hull and decided to go via Doncaster as the next train direct was a long wait. At Doncaster I disc...

What a GREAT Summer!

The last 6 weeks have been superb, I've travelled up and down the country with various people from RailUK/UKTS (I daren't try to list them all as I'd probably miss someone out!) I'd like to thank everyone who went on the highly enjoyable trips. :D I hope, and am sure there will be many more to come....

Yes we bumped into 1288gaje at Kensington Olympiam but there was nothing much happening there so we all went to Camden Road, where we saw about 6 freight trains in the space of 40 minutes! Unfortunately most of them were heading west and the lighting conditions were not too favourable for those. My ...

Just a few points: The Class 90 is very reliable at the moment on weekdays on that diagram, but as AllyPally says it can have a 1 minute turnaround at Man Picc and form the 1424 instead of 1524 (and therefore 1648 from BHM instead of 1748), so beware! It won't last forever, so catch it while you can...

Nice shots! They don't appear to be in the right order though, which makes the gallery a little confusing. I can't find any option to order the images in Fotopic. Anyone know how? Huh? Why weren't you in the Open Carriage? The railway feels completely different in one of them (especially next to th...

yes that's what I meant! But a Wrexham CDR is valid both ways, avoiding the need for expensive SDSs.
