The CrossCountry network is effectively unusable for any passengers travelling between the North East and South West at weekends these days, due to a variety of diversions. For example, York-Bristol 7 hours. The first 1 hour 50 mins of this only gets you 50 miles to Sheffield, while on GNER you coul...

Bring on new EMU's. I hate slam door stock! Rob Some people dislike (hate is too strong a word) poorly constructed arguments  A Southern Mk1 'slammer' offers a much higher standard of comfort compared to your 507/508s. Windows actually line up with seats (unlile the 507/508 where not one seat...

I was there at Victoria (and a few other places) to see it , didn't see you though.

It looked very empty :| (but that wasn't down to lack of interest but because they chose to make it staff only).

Some great shots there must be nice to be on a station that's so deserted yet the railways still full of life. Did many people board or disembark from the Sleeper? The sleeper I got was actually the Highlands Sleeper (arrival 02:00, the Glasgow/Edinburgh sleeper arrived 04:00 and a few passengers g...

National Express also run to London, but I don't see anyone suggesting putting scanners at National Express stops. Nor searching all cars entering Central London, etc etc. Exactly. The railways are an easy target. It would massively increase costs and still not be effective. If the rail industry wa...

The scanners at the moment are aimed at heathrow connect services. I don't know why your all against it. I know it will add to journey times, but if it helps stop people wanting to do harm (Terrorists and your average scrout that carrys knives) then surly its a good thing. Its normal nature at airp...

The only currently scheduled passenger service that I am aware of that takes this route is the Master Cutler, which is non-stop Chesterfield-London St Pancras (Southbound only - there is no equivalent northbound service). Project 'Rio' HSTs went this way from 2003-2004. If a train is timetabled to g...

You didnt see much then, i suppose the 37's and 60 made up for it. We actually saw loads! I don't make notes (but others did if anyone wants the full list!), I just like watching/photting. Most trains did not stop, so I could not take a (non blurry/grainy) photo. Also there were some trains that di...

About 15 enthusiasts were present at this crazy hour to witness the ...
