Rudolf - from what you say it sounds as if some eng. parameters need to be adjusted for models with higher animation rates - can you tell us which parameters, and by how much?

Rudolf - the revised adhesion values you suggest look very low and result in almost constant wheelspin on dry rails without sanding - is there a typo? Also, what eng file parameters need to be adjusted for locos such as duckweeds that use half the actual value for engine wheel diameter due to a non-...

Rick and lawndart- thanks for your replies and thank you Rick for the email. Lawndart, re SteamFiremanMaxPossibleFiringRate ( 32500) - Rudolf's manual suggests a value for this of 4400 lb/hr or so, and a figure of 3000 lbs/hr was mentioned as right for the UK. Is there a conflict with your figure or...

Rather like the response to scefwil's sound files, I suspect that most users won't realise how flawed the default settings are until experts like you give them an improved version to play with - hence my post elsewhere suggesting that you upload some sample tweaked eng files for testing.

Please share your tweaked files

Would one of the experts in this forum please consider uploading a fully tweaked eng file for a popular UK steamer - 4472 for instance - so that the effect of the many improvements discussed here recently can be tried out? Having something working as close as possible to the real thing as a benchmar...

I've tried the registry fix as below and it has restored the purple traffic and consist data in AE window. But MSTS is still crashing when I try to edit services in the Traffic Pattern window - so it looks like I have a separate problem. Any ideas? Some of the posts on this fix were vague or didn't ...

Thanks. That thread refers to static consists only, whereas I've lost player and AI services too in the routemap window. If no other solutions emerge I'll pluck up courage and try playing with the suggested registry fix. Could it be that in manually editing service and consist files I've made a fata...

Currently I have 835 consists in the trainset file. Strangely, things only started to go wrong when I read about the 899 limit and decided to purge the consists file from a peak of more than 1000, even though things at that point were still working OK.

Gentlemen, I'm really looking forward to this forthcoming flood of S&C rolling stock and the next instalment of this great route. But could we at least have the Johnson tender 3F to be going on with, preferably in both LMS and BR livery? There is still a big shortage of the smaller steam classes in ...

AE problem - help please

I have a major problem with Activity Editor that has emerged since I did some manual editing of service and consist file names in a couple of routes. For all routes, no static or AI consist info now appears in the AE route window whatever is checked in the View window, and MSTS crashes if I attempt ...

If wheel diameter in the eng file looks wrong, it may need to be that way in order to generate the correct driving wheel rotation speed, due I think to variations in loco animation frame rates. Quite a few MSTS locos are spinning their wheels too slowly. See recent threads in this forum.

The tireless Norman Walker's Princess Margaret Rose is on uktrainsim, ID number 3460.

I see he's just released a WD 2-8-0 on trainsim.com
