Re: IOW Network V4
Norman, I am surprised and sorry the hear that you are experiencing a significant reduction in frame rate due to the change in track. As the person who designed and installed the new track, I can say that the new IOW network track is built in a similar manner to the RSDL track used in the earlier ve...

Re: Changing Speed units on Track
James,
I think this value is found in the Track Rule Blueprint. It is called "Speed Unit Value" and can be set at MPH or KPH.

Mark Brinton

Re: Who wants to signal the GCR?
To pick-up on a few of the raised points: 1) You should not "overlap" signals in RW in the manner originally described. For the signal in the photo you need a one of the 3 way junction signals. My current script for the one included in the signal kit does not have a calling-on facility. However you ...

Re: AWS Question
Hi all, Busy building my first route and was wondering, is there a rule regarding the placement of AWS ramps? How far from the signal are they generally placed? I'm assuming the distance would vary depending on line speed, ie closer on slow lines and farther on fast lines? Thanks for any and all he...

Re: Advice please
On the matter of signalling, I decided to take a good look at the Falmouth Branch and how that is signalled, I take it from what I've seen in John's guide and from what Mark has said the Falmouth Branch is not a typically signalled route? I don't know how the Falmouth Branch is signalled, so can't ...

Re: Missing SRUK signals and posts
Thank you for the advice. I made a copy of the route and then relayed track and deleted milk bottles and now all is well and I'm making frequent backups. My problem now is getting some signals to function correctly. I've tried logmate but so much info comes down that I will try moving the links abo...

Re: Advice please
Not a problem Bob Thanks for that Mark, With the distances being so short between signals on the Isle of Man I don't think I really need outer and inner signal for single line running. I think I'm trying to overcomplicate things for myself like I did with the Nessland Route, the original Manx North...

Re: Missing SRUK signals and posts
Hi I’m designing my own route, all was well until I had a system crash after which some of the SRUK signals I had placed failed to be displayed. The track-linked object screen displays red lines from the missing signals and what looks like a milk churn at the location and there are several large re...

Re: Advice please
massive snip... The token instrument... I don't think I've seen anything even approaching a token instrument in RW... Is this not a bit of an oversight? Can't imagine that it would ever be anything other than a scenery object unfortunately, but has anyone ever made one? Cheers Bob (sorry for taking...

Re: Advice please
Phil, One issue with starting signals is how rich the railway were feeling at the time of designing the installation and how dense the traffic was. Also factors such as section occupation time have to be considered and the likelihood of a train stopped blocking the junction whilst waiting the sectio...

Re: can someone suggest a way of signaling this junction?
Many thanks for the replies. I actually had no idea that the feathers denoted a speed drop, I just thought that they showed a direction change. At present (as I am still learning) my route is 1 speed only so does that mean I should not use feathers? If how should i signal say a basic left turnout? ...

Re: can someone suggest a way of signaling this junction?
Hi, !st post here and I am afraid that I am stuck. I am trying to signal this junction using UK signaling for trains traveling on the middle line in the direction of the arrow. The problem is there is no straight ahead so I cannot use one of the normal junction light signals (say F1 and F4). I I I ...

Re: Who wants to signal the GCR?
More questions  What are the yellow ground shunt signals for i have never seen any of these, also the small arm shunt signals can these be legitimatly be used to signal siding exits, as they seem to be and work as mini arms? The yellow arm signals (and red arm signals) are the earlier version ...

Re: Who wants to signal the GCR?
I must say mark, that the SR signals in my mind look the best of the lot they dont move too fast and almost have an air of bounce about them, and are by far my favorites. May I also add that the signal not clearing until you move had me setting and tearing them up again, many times until i got bore...

Re: Who wants to signal the GCR?
Progress Update: managed get it working using the 3 junction SR signals I didn realise the locos had to be moving for them to change. . The reason that you have to move the train very slightly initially to get the signals to clear is that the signalling system can't read the mind of the driver. RS ...
