RE says "Error reading editor object selection file&quo

Sorry about this but I have looked in the tutorials and done a few searches but cannot find anything about this error message. I recently purchased a new route and it installed and runs perfectly. However, it is a narrow gauge route built at x2 scale and I need to check the 'gravity' setting in RE (...

Hi Chris, I was a fireman at the FR in the early '70s and Blanche usually worked her 8 cars much more easily than the Alco did her 5 cars due to the amount of steam capable of being produced by their respective boilers (of the time). However you cold not say she was taking it easy. The regulator was...

Hi again, Agree with all you say - even many std gauge models have to have the wheel radius in the eng file tweaked to get the appearance of the wheels rotating properly on the track and then you have to change the cylinder volume in the same ratio to maintain 'correct' steam useage. On x2 models th...

Hi Rich I'm sure gravity doesn't come in to it unless you are travelling up or down hill (see your original simplifying assumptions). If you did want to mess around with gravitational (and, at the same time, other accelerative) effects, then all you have to do is alter the mass. Since F=ma then, for...

Hi everyone, I have been following this thread with interest since I have always used prototype values for x2scale models with reasonable results, I think! There are few things which don't seem to have been mentioned yet. 1. There is a value in the consist file which adjusts the acceleration of the ...

Hi Ian, If you upload an .eng calculator specifically for an AutoFireman application I don't see the need for uploading complete files, thus avoiding Dave Bran's concerns. However, in my experience, changing the .eng file does not compromise an activity. I can run an activity for 50 mins (or so), sa...

Hello Ian, Great to hear from you again. I've been moving house so havn't had the opportunity to look here for a week or so. Your .eng file calculator is an absolute godsend and still the basis for all my .eng files and I would recommend it to anyone. I must admit that I don't use it for complete fi...

Looping sounds

Hi everyone. Sorry to ressurrect this thread but I am suddenly having the same problem and if any one could give me a clue ........ Thanks, I need it. My 'sound suddenly looping' problem is only on the Llangollen, Barmouth, Blaeneau route on the Gas Works Delivery activity and seems to start after a...

You can move all or some of the HUD information outside of the screen boundaries so you can't see them even though they are on. A bit fiddly and I can't remember how to do it right now but the info is here on the forums somewhere. In the 'Physics' folder I think.

Thanks Nelson, Your idea for getting a short blast on a second whistle from a single press of the B button works like a charm - providing of course that you have a suitably timed length of wav file.

Using B button for two tone horns

Hi everyone, I've been following the thread on two tone horns with interest because I have long wanted some more buttons of the Press-on, Let go-off variety ie just like the space bar for the whistle/horn. I have set up some of my steamers with two whistles using the B button for the second one but ...

Hello Ian, Yes, I agree that the Max. TE (at xx% boiler pressure) is given in that form because even in full gear and full regulator at very low speeds you still don't get the boiler presuure throughout the full stroke of the pistons. I have a recollection of reading somewhere that the relationship ...

How to make sounds for 'Leader'?

Hi everyone, Re: Leader. I have been playing with this superb model by morpethcurve and can thoroughly recommend it. I am a committed steam fanatic and have never yet driven a diesel and it is an absolute revelation to drive a steamer with a diesel type cab view. No wonder the crews liked the new di...

"Old" routes

Hi everyone, I hope you don't mend me starting a new thread on this but it has been a theory of mine for a little while. We now have quite a few models of existing modern routes and a few more 'nearly routes' and fictitious routes, all of which are excellent. However, isn't the power of MSTS really ...
