I'm sure you know the difference - not so sure tigermon does. I'm a shandy-drinking-soft-southern-pansy as it happens. Well, southern anyhow. And the "master control key" is known to me as an EP key, though I knon not what the EP actually stands for in a big crompton context. From what I've heard (...

would that be the same EP key that you stick in the drivers desk of the 33? I think EP key and EP Brakes are different animals... (The EP key is also necessary to run a 45, which doesnt have EP Brakes) *Puffing up* Excuse me? Excuse me?! I know the difference twixt EP keys and EP brakes. What you e...

Oh, I'll still need the EP - odd that, I was under the impression the 110 Volt crossfeed would give you EP brakes. Oh well, Auto it is. NB: Owing to being used to working with EDs, forgot that Cromptons won't give you EP. . . .. Haven't driven on Auto for about a year, so that should be interesting....

You want to brace yourself boys - Wimbledon Park might be coming to the Great Central for the day!!! I wonder what the punters would say if a mob of blokes turned up in SWT uniform and commandeered the running of their train?!

SWT have three Clas 73s: 73109 - usually at Woking, although suffering from very poor batteries at the moment. 73201- currently at Wimbledon with faulty batteries. 73235 - at Bournemouth and due for an engine change. '253 is knackered. '109 isn't much better and '201 is the best one we've got. Perso...

Ah, but I had the particular pleasure of driving them - VEPs were good, Greyhound CIGS were pure bloody fun but the CEPs with the motor bogies under the cab (and especially the 23**'s that had the old REP bogies) were the best. You always knew what they were doing; slip, slide or running like hellfi...

The 444s and 450s have great riding qualities - I don't know about the diesel versions. I'm afraid I don't like the 170s, however - they are very cramped inside - I'm just too tall for their seats! The 165/6s are much better if you ask me. Nick Dessies ride reasonably, although they have a nasty ha...

Not keen on her? Lends Southern quailty to the place! Now all you need is full juice rail, four, eight and twelve car marks on all the platforms and a decent racing ground; then I'll pop up and show you why they called 'em Greyhounds!

Over to Matt Vince  "Elvis has entered the building" The Shopping List: ....... That's all I can think of for the moment. Matt - your love affair with all things technical seems routed in common sense. There any chance you could get a job with the SRA? Sounds like you know more about rolling ...
