I would have thought that, before one even looks at gauging issues, it would be prudent to consider that 442s are long-distance stock; station dwell times with one plug door at either end of a coach will preclude them from working semi-fast timings - it will take too long to get punters on and off. ...

They could but i wouldnt like the electricity bill for the power used off 1, 5WES to pull another 5WES A 5WES is the equivelent of a 4REP quite some Juice Eater really. Not quite - a 5WES represents half a 4REP; a 4REP ...

The 442s are needed as they are the only long-distance express passenger stock available to SWT. The 444s aren't the same, and could probably be viewed as inferior for longer journeys (such as Waterloo-Weymouth). All the best!

Unreliable? I'll assume you're aware 458s are putting in more trouble-free mileage that our refurbed 455s? There's nothing wrong with them, and they are now a better unit to drive than a Desiro. The only problem with them now is that they look very very tired internally. Further juice upgrades will ...

That’s a disgraceful way to handle fare-paying passengers; sometimes the lack of information passed on to the passenger is terrible. Who knows where the line of communication in your case broke down, you get the impression someone got the call requesting a bus and was about to go home so just did...
