92220 - Evening Star
While reading about the Re-streamlining of the Duchess of Hamilton and how the NRM propose to do this to make it unique, I started wondering about the possibility of restoring Evening Star back to main line condition. At the moment there are currently no main line certified 9Fs, and there is no sign...

Definitely a no no.... I've seen photos of the Duchess in streamlined form and it is not a pretty site. I personally think that the money would be better spent being put towards the overhaul of the duchess. I'd prefer to see the Duchess preserved in the state it was when it left BR, rather than bein...

My girlfriend brought me a hornby Evening Star train set from M&S, which includes a 9F, 3 MK1 coaches, an oval of track, two sidings and a controller. Am very pleased with the above, however, to avoid the cardinal sin of running a 9F with a short train (3 or 4 coaches), I am going to need a lot of s...

Lincoln on Saturday
Just to let everyone know, just in case they are in the vicinity of Lincolnshire. It is the Christmas Market weekend, and as a result, Lincoln Central will be playing host to a steam special hauled from London by The Duke of Gloucester, HST runs between Lincoln & Nottingham, and various other diesel...

Looks like locos & coaches may be getting a reprieve
I've just heard that track access charged are changing for Voyager type DEMUs. Apparrently they are actually worse for track wear than HSTs and LHCS, even a class 67 and 11 coaches. Further reading can be found here Maybe the under utilised class 67's and various other locomotives may be put to bett...

I'm from the Lincoln area and heard that central have had to hike their fares up to reduce over crowding on their trains. The way the world works is an absolute farce! Rather than be able to add coaches to their trains and cater for the increased demand, central are having to raise prices in order t...

I believe the loco concerned was the station pilot, and was actually taken out of active service to be put on the plinth on which it resided for 10 years or so. I watched the Lincoln Railway Centenery Video (1996) which featured the class 08 closely follow a HST into the Central Station going over t...

I think the decision to close the avoiding line was ridiculous too. Although we don't get any freight to/from Lincoln, there is an awful lot of freight passing through. In the mornings on my way to work, no matter what time I set off, I nearly always get delayed by a large freight train going . Simi...

I live in Bracebridge, just opposite the old railway line as it passes through what remains of the gas works. In fact... I used to cross over the trackbed on my way to 6th form. I was speaking to an old chap who was walking his dog there, apparrently, it was used heavily on the Lincoln to London Ser...

Yeah I did hear that Farish had been taken over by Bachmann. I think this can only be a good thing, because over time, bachman will redesign some of the existing models, and rid them some of their flaws - ie undersized pony truck wheels on some of the steam locos. Do u reckon that I could fit a layo...

Thinking of Building an N-Gauge layout
Hi everyone, I've looking into getting into model railways again. I have quite a lot of Bachman, Hornby & Lima 00 gague stock desperate for a layout to run on, however I don't have the space to build a 00 gauge layout big enough to accommodate real-length consists, so I've decided to go for an N gag...
