Thanks for that,
I have checked both the official and unofficial websites of the Railway and am unable to find what locos will be running.
Not too much of a GWR fan myself, will there be any BR Standards running?

Visiting the West Somerset Railway
Hi there, Hopefully my girlfiriend and myself will be spending a long weekend in Minehead to explore the town and travel on the West Somerset Railway. We were looking at getting there from our hometown of Newark by train, however this is going to set us back £111 and then whatever the cost of the Cl...

You are mistaken - Lincoln will be one train per day (initially at least) which will be an extension of a Nottingham - A fast one, I presume. Do you mean one train each way, or literally a train to London each day, and then have to change at Nottingham to get back to Lincoln? I wonder where the ser...

Brilliant Pics, I've also taken some photos of the Sunset from Cromer Pier. I also spent the last week in Norfolk with my girlfriend. As we were on a campsite near to Sheringham, we spent a lot of time in and around Sheringham. The weather was dire for the first few days but had picked up by Wednesd...

Lincolnshire Merseyman (Cargo-D Rake) at Lincoln Central
A last minute dash to Lincoln to see 47815 and D1916 top and tail the Cargo-D BR Blue MKIII rake through lincoln en-route to Skegness. http://jonhewes.fotopic.net/c1287532.html For those familiar with Lincoln the level crossing next to Lincoln Central was blocked for the duration of the train stoppi...

. Finally, on longer distance runs, loco haulage is a good solution, since it allows switching between diesel and electric traction. This was demonstrated well by loco hauled Cross County services, with 86s under the wires and 47s off the wires. Hybrids are not so ideal, since you are having to dra...

I doubt we'll ever see the end of DMUs, however I do hope that future generations of DMU are built with passengers more in mind. I travel 20 miles each way to work on a train, this is normally a 153, 156, 158, and very rarely a 170. All the 15x trains have an unacceptable level of in-carriage engine...

Excellent Photos there Rich. Thanks for sharing them with us. I was going to try and photograph it going through Barnetby or Cleethorpes on its Outward journey this morning. I intended getting some pictures of it going through Grimsby or Barnetby this morning, however I live in Newark, so would have...

Personally I don't see the fasination with getting the number of each and every vehicle (contraversial) I completely agree with you there, I think the collection of everyday unit/loco numbers is what give trainspotters a bad name. Everytime I've told someone that one of my interests is in Railways,...

NYMR ECML Gala - 06/05/07
Hi there, I've just set up a fotopic site, and have just uploaded some photos I took at the NYMR ECML Gala. Please visit ; http://jonhewes.fotopic.net I actually took the photos using a 6 MP camera, however down sized them to 800x600 for my fotopic site. I think this was a mistake as they look rathe...

I second that statement. We could really do with a mainline certified 9f again. Sister engine 92212 was supposed to be going on the mainline several years ago, but nothing happened.allypally wrote:Evening Star. She's the newest yet she's on a plinth. A very special engine too that should be working.

Class 67s maybe have a place in this kind of short-term leasing to cover stock shortages (but only on certain routes/services where 67+LHCS do not impose performance or capacity restrictions - you wouldn't use one on a peak-hour all-stops into Waterloo, for example, nor would you use one on the fas...
