Yep its big! I an not sure on the weight but probably similar to The Great Bear so in the high 90 tons although that would give it a better axle loading than the king. So may have even had a red route clasification rather than the double red of the Kings. I worked out that the nominal tractive effor...

GWR The Great bear evolution loco

Well I Know its best not to have more than one loco project on the go at once but.... In one of the other forum sections we have been talking about the later drawn but not built Pacific in the late forties for the GWR. So using that drawing and a bit of imagination. I have come up with this so far. ...

Well, a nice surprise when I logged onto my mail! A free month subs!

Thanks to John and Matt. I enjoyed the thread, a bit of non-offensive fun.

It was a bit of fresh air after some of the other stuff on the forums lately. just what we needed.

From what I have seen/read recently any action by Matt was fully justified and would be again in a similar circumstance. We have a common interest in railways that should bring us together. The problem is indeed when we stray too far of beam and good taste. We must also remember there will be a wide...

Yep The Great Bear must have been some sight to see, particularly at the time of build there wasn't much else around to match it for sheer size. The cab roof a the top is just on the maxumum allowoable against the standard loading guage. It just happens to be sitting at the Highworth branch bay plat...

I have had the same issue under XP.

I discovered though that it will minimise if you press the 'windows function key' It usually between the ctrl & alt key on the bottom left. It should have the MS Windows logo on it.

I woudn't do that. It is a default loco and belongs to Kuju/Microsoft. You could get into deep water if you amended and posted it on a website. Also converters are not particularly looked upon kindly as they can be used in the wrong hands to rip off other peoples work.

If I can work it out I don't mind having a go at a cab. My attempts so far though haven't been that successful. Is there any notes/tips available?

Aha a sharp eye! Its a version of the pasenger fruit van but with a different texture on the sides from a photo I took at Didcot. It looks a bit odd though coz the van was in full sunlight and the paint was a little nmore faded than the one you sent me. Mind you just out of shot is something more in...

Here are a couple of images of the progress so far with the 72xx. The 42xx I am doing is in similar condition. Still some shape work and a far bit of texture work to do. I am trying to get a reasonable representation of the later loco green. At the moment it seems to come out too dark or too bright....

it sounds like you have some poly surfices reversed so that they face inwards. You can alter the orientation of individual polys by selecting Poly mode and use the right and left arrow keys to highlight the poly thats casuing trouble. It should be easy to spot since in poly mode there is a tell-tale...

You must live in a parallel universe or something becuase you just described my study room! or as my wife puts it room for the GWR loonies.

But hey as I tell her it means I'm not out getting drunk or causing any harm to anyone so can't be all bad!

Robin.
