Don't forget the electrics - 304s everywhere on the AC lines. 310s were rare, they dodn't often venture far north of Birmingham although they did turn up from time to time. 504s to Bury and 506s to Glossop/Hadfield, of course. I think this is where the gap now lies in BR Blue traction for railworks...

The difference is phenomenal and the next time I go onto the route as it stands just now will be quite underwhelming.

I played this last week for the first time and finished it without any problems.
