Hehe, I'm glad we had another pic to look at besides the Pennsylvania version - it's hard to pic any details out with that scheme!! LOL Black's just got to be one of the hardest paints to reproduce. Boy, don't I know that from my SCL re-hashes :D There again, that D&H livery looks a bit bland - espe...

Hi Well, I've been playing around with the terrain textures, basically just adjusting the green value by about 20% to see what (if any!) improvements were immediately noticeable, and only so far with the basic "terrain" texture tile. Suffice it to say it seems to be an improvement IMO, but I reckon ...

LOL Martin - it's pretty hard to keep track of 'em all! I've lost count of the ones I've installed on my h/d and probably never fully explored. The only thing I'm not too keen about on the Sumpter is the rock texture. There's one section when it looks like you're running through a lunar landscape. B...

LOL - well it's nice to share!

My missus reckons when I go the books will go too - it should make for a fair blaze when I'm cremated!

That's why I grabbed this book when I had the opportunity. I've often kicked myself in the past for not picking up something that caught my eye. Although it's not the original book (the whole book had been reproduced as copies, and at 280+ pages that's some feat!!) it only cost £4. I just had a gut...

Weird thing....... although I pre-ordered the Surfliner over a year ago, and it's (supposedly) near to release, I'm more excited about the release of the Donner now! LOL

US Steam Loco Plans

Talking about steam locos on another thread reminded me of a book I managed to pick up a month or so ago. It's a collection of drawings and plans entitled "100 Years of Steam Locomotives" by Walter A. Lucas, printed 1957. There are 278 pages, and apart from the introduction, every other page consist...

Hi Can't really add much to what you guys have suggested, except the excellent NG route Sumpter Valley. Big locos (for NG), logging, 1940s, very nicely executed scenery - what more could you want? AND it's all Freeware! Really like to see a route featuring steam during the 1930s-50s, preferably feat...

Hi guys I think I tend to agree with Geoff (again!) over many of the issues he has discussed in his pretty comprehensive post. The stock and sounds effects are what sell it for me though, and at just under £14 (including p&P), I guess the whole shebang represents good value for money. I'm in the pr...

Hi Geoff Yes, I downloaded Whitefish5 Last night (a bit galling when I only d/loaded Whitefish3 the other day!!). Pretty impressive - and the best embankments I've seen yet in MSTS. Spent most of the night replacing the track textures, and playing about with the signal files trying to use MLT's late...

Ditto that brother!

Mine's dated 21st August, 2003. Fortunately I kept a copy of my receipt!

Anyway, let's hope this date is definite

Hi Geoff Again, I'm inclined to agree with you regarding the poly count/overall realism point, and of course you are quite right about the relationship between the 3D model and the final textures. To me, overall, the level of detail on MLT's models, be it 3D or painted on, is just about right. To re...

Hi Geoff I'm inclined to agree with you a little here. I have a Radeon Sapphire 9800 Pro - previously I had an Nvidia Ti4200. Overall, I think (operative word here!) I prefer the ATI card, but as always it's probably subjective to application. Variations in lighting conditions have always been a ban...
