And don't forget that the Valenta HSTs were initially reviled and despised for displacing the beloved Deltics.
Personally I quite like the sound of the MTU 16V4000, but then my motorsporty friends consider me odd for rather liking the diesel Audi R10/R15 and Peugeot 908 LMP racers...

Re: RSC Class 70
The use of turbocharger in the context of these engines, and the EMD 645 in the Class 59, is misleading as there is one 'blower' which is driven mechanically at low powers and by the exhaust driven turbine at higher outputs. So in the video the air would be being supplied by the blower being mechan...

Re: Unnecessary detail?
I does seem to me that intelligent use of the asset priority ought to solve the problem almost entirely - but as mentioned, that depends on someone going through every asset in the route and making sure it's set appropriately. I generally drive from the cab, but there are times (e.g. when rattling a...

Copying and modifying loco parameters
Firstly, what's the easiest way to identify the location of the files for the player loco in any particular scenario, if it's a reskin or other non-default item? I've got two scenarios (both from GSC1) where I want to make some small mods around the locos used... In "Off to the Castle", I noticed th...

Re: Stable system for running RW's?
Well, that'll teach me - a few hours after I post on this thread, I get my first ever SBHH while driving. Just for interest, it was after I'd increased the shader quality from Low to Medium - after the crash I set it back to Low and re-ran the scenario with no problem. I'll try some more runs...

Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 3 GHz | 4 GB | GTX260 | Win 7 64bit
Very little in the way of add-ons - a few small DLCs (66; MJAs; Zombies) plus the GSC1 freeware stuff.
Only one SBHH, and that was after placing a lot of static consists in a scenario (and not saving for too long...

Re: Scenario - Coals to Newcastle
Yep, that was fun! :D That train feels very heavy under braking - I'll admit I overshot more than one speed limit, and nearly overshot the end of the siding... It doesn't stop quite quite like an HST! If you like tight schedules, then "Off to the Castle" from the Great Scenario Challenge 1, a...

I'm going to have to try this one next, then
If for no other reason than I love the RW3 Class 47 sounds - and I like a challenging timetabled scenario.

Re: Monitoring Performance
It's a well-recognised issue to do with multi-core use. At 33% it's using 1.32 CPU cores, and that's more-or-less as much as it ever uses - one main core and a bit of another. An upgrade to a CPU with faster per-core performance (or overclocking) ought to help, a little at least. However, you could ...

Re: Scenario - Coals to Newcastle
Hi Matt,
Like I said above: in map view, click on the icon at the top right that looks a bit like an HST power car.
Red means you can pan around the map
Blue means the map will follow your train.
HTH!

Re: Scenario - Coals to Newcastle
Back to the original topic - it's all too easy to forget to check the route into the destination yard. I was playing "A Thorny Matter" for a second time straight after my first attempt at the weekend, and I still forgot to set the route into Victorville even after I'd got caught out the first time! ...

Re: frames/per/seconds
Hi Keith, and welcome to UKTS. FPS is frames per second, or how many times the computer can update the screen every second. The higher the FPS, the smoother the game will look. You can switch on a built-in FPS counter in Railworks (TS2012) by holding Shift and pressing Z briefly (it displays in the ...

Re: A Thorny Matter: Barstow to San Bernardino Route
What's the ID of the stopped AI train (should be visible on the map - 9 key)? I get U-7707-A passing Thorn very soon after the start, and U-5396-C is waiting just before Victorville Path for 7707 to clear the next block. I'm wondering if you've taken long enough - you have coupled up all the 'cars' ...

Re: Alternate Loading Screen Sound?
If anyone has the RW2 sound file, would it be legit for them to upload it for the benefit of those who allowed it to be 'upgraded'? I rather liked the crows.
