Re: Railworks vs Trainz

Hi jaycat, i have bought and used all the versions since Trainz CE in 2001. I always use the latest release and will always recommend the latest release. But it is not my business to influence your decisions. Also this is not the correct forum to go into the pro's and con's of Trainz. Of course I a...

Unless RSC broadens the scope of RW i will always marginally prefer Trainz, while using both.
I am might try Trainz then, which version do you recommend to start with?

Re: Railworks vs Trainz

That's interesting. I use OpenBve and have tried WOS 1 and 2 but have never given Trainz a go. I suppose I have been put off by the graphics and core engine but I might be tempted to give it a go if it induces extra interest in railways as a whole rather than just driving in a not particularly compl...

Re: Railworks vs Trainz

present. So there you have it. Two sims both of which have a certain appeal, but both with flaws and the thought from many if only we could have an amalgam of the two plus a scattering of MSTS, BVE and Zusi we would have our perfect sim! Agree with this wholeheartedly, they all have pluses and minu...

Re: Senarios

I have to say I agree with the poster that most scenarios require too much payware and even freeware software to be already owned or to be acquired to get them to work. I found that it's also difficult to find all the assets required for a lot of the scenarios. I am lucky in that I can use RW_tools ...

Yes I agree. I can't remember exactly which rival but I think its OpenBVE that can do this? :o

Re: Portable EAX sound card?

TBH, I've had bad luck with EAX even on WinXP. I finally have 3D sound after installing an Asus Xonar instead of the Audigy - I had tried an X-Fi previously with even worse results - but turning on EAX effects makes it sound like someone decided to drive trains through a swimming hall. So I leave E...

The noise is still there so its still real.....if it were that loud in real life I doubt many could stand it!

Class 86 noise

When driving the Class 86 I can't stand the awful noise made by the drive mechanism. Is there anyway I can turn this off (apart from turning the volume down!) or are there any updated sound files that make this noise rather less intrusive? Otherwise I like the loco just can't stand the noise, I spen...

Re: Railworks TGV!

This was what I've been looking for quite a while now. More high speed trains for railworks. The pendolino, though capable of 240kph, doesn't quite cut the mustard against this 300kph TGV. Not had a single problem starting it, just followed the instructions and it rolled out of the station. It's a ...

Re: Freeware

My only gripe with payware these days is half a project complete and still being charged a normal price. Take the 450 compared to the 156. (My upmost respect to both creators btw, don't want to cause any offence!) The 156 is (IMO) the best addon for RW so far (that's probably biased as they are loc...

Re: Railworks TGV!

Been trying to get the TGV to work too but can not. Please can you tell me what you mean by control files etc? Have set a train up in Testrak but can't get it to respond to any of the key commands.... Thanks Ok, I sorted it. It doesn't work until you get the train set up properly including the bar ...
