Re: Joining track
I have found a really helpful use for join, and it works for lofts as well as track. Sometimes I want a curve and then a long straight** and the straight needs its end to be in a particular place - i.e. the curve needs to be of exactly the right length. What I do now is: - do a curve a bit longer th...

Re: Passenger Density
The roads available from 3DTrains take the approach of no cars on the "real" road and an invisible "road" with cars, so you can chose the combination that is appropriate. I believe there are already "invisible" platform lofts available (sorry, can't remember where they come from) to do this, which w...

Re: Watching the trains go by
Essentially you could do a scenario without assigning a player train so all trains would be AI, your point viewing would be set by the scenario marker and essentially you could roam around from that point, and if you set it at a station platform you could wander around the station like you would wh...

Tony, no... ignore AA to do it this way.
Not that there's anything wrong with AA.

Re: Advanced track laying... crossovers.
Did it!
It took starting again on the whole segment, but I now have a nicely welded crossing with 2 double slips
Thanks folks,
Ruth

Re: Advanced track laying... crossovers.
Here's a screenie of the actual track layout I have.
I think there's a curve at one end (top on this pic) which may have prevented the upper slip.
Any ideas for the rest?
I'll give Yard track a go.

Re: Advanced track laying... crossovers.
"clicky pictures": When you post, just attach the photo file to your post using the "choose file" button. By default they appear at the end, but you can use the "inline" button - which you get after selecting upload - to insert a reference marker in the post, in which case they appear at that place ...

John,
I hadn't found any useful tutorials... Only thing I saw was a confusing paragraph in the old creator manual.
Much better informed now

A pic of the canopy in place. Obvious work to do elsewhere.

Re: Newmarket "New" Station building
Next update on this model: I have been working on texturing the platform pillars and canopy. I'm not sure of the paint colour for the pillar - it could easily have been black, but I have gone for blue for the moment. These bits are all individually textured: that won't be true generally but I decide...

Re: Advanced track laying... crossovers.
Thanks folks for your thoughts. In this case, the track is all Main Line, it's all on a gradient (1:338 +/- 2) and the central part of the crossing is straight. All the lines crossed are almost straight - I can't remember if one might be on a slight curve but if so it's a large radius. The gradient ...

Re: Advanced track laying... crossovers.
Yes, pretty much, except that when I try to weld, one X crossing only welds into an X crossing and the other to a single slip.
And if I tried to undo it it went and messed up the trackwork instead.

Advanced track laying... crossovers.
Folks, Is there anywhere a clear explanation of laying a double-slip other than lots of messing around laying individual sections of track. I have the feeling there's a shortcut using the "crossover tool" but I've never got it to work. I have 5 parallel lines and a crossover line that joins 1..5 and...

Re: Joining track
Careful with Yard rules, you often get other settings as well which are a catch for the unwary. So select Yard, then re-select the track appearance (left side middle) and check that the track type (passenger/freight/et al) is set properly. Be aware that Freight setting prevents any Passenger AI usin...

Re: Is there an eejit's guide to Route Building in TS2013?
Are you saying that in the most-recently mentioned folder you still don't have a Utilities.exe file, and that a Steam Verify hasn't fixed it? That would indeed be strange. Assuming you have Railworks in: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\RailWorks.exe ... your executable should be in...
