Re: Software from heaven
What was included in the "Up the Junction" stock pack? Was that the lower numbered shunters or was it the 08->13 series? But Gary's point does stand, you might have issues with Steam removing things. However does it still get listed as an item on Steam? If it's no longer on Steam then you might be a...

Re: "Lua Scripting for Train Simulator: An Overview"
DG have had the ability to simulate a DVT for a while now, since around the time the rear power cars on the HST's stopped being silent  , Regards, As far as I'm aware that was just them upgrading the game so that some control's values were sent down the consist and set equally on all other po...

Re: "Lua Scripting for Train Simulator: An Overview"
Wow! When I started this thread I had no idea that the subject could possibly be controversial. What harm can correct documentation do to anyone? Can't believe the "snobbery" it's unearthed. I stated that I was fully supporting the release of the docs to the public, however my side point on those a...

Re: "Lua Scripting for Train Simulator: An Overview"
I think that was agreed 2 pages ago :) We did, but this discussion has come about as a result of some (not in this thread particularly) who feel that the lack of documentation is what's preventing them from getting started with and understanding Lua for TS. In which case I say that they are looking...

Re: "Lua Scripting for Train Simulator: An Overview"
Totally disagree... (Just saying it for effect at this point  ) But I can see where you're coming from 37114, however scripting is a specialized variation on general programming with lower-level languages. Lua isn't like the standard programming languages that you can learn and build on with do...

Re: "Lua Scripting for Train Simulator: An Overview"
I've never had any interest in keeping code secret from others, but I don't see why this is something people suspect others of doing. the fact is that even before the .out system (which was entirely DTG's doing, the community never asked for it to my knowledge) some developers (Oovee for example) wo...

Re: "Lua Scripting for Train Simulator: An Overview"
Yes, but many users know nothing about programming in LUA, and if DTG unveil us the functions in TS and what is achieved with them, maybe we would encourage to learn how to program scripts, and it would not start learning completely from scratch. Which brings me back to my point on functionality as...

Re: "Lua Scripting for Train Simulator: An Overview"
Eh, I'm not totally on board with the opinion that documentation is vital for the development of programs (for all intensive purposes, scripting is programming). It will provide you with the vocabulary to express what you want done for the computer, but it's having the correct grammar that determine...

Re: DTG to produce Liverpool - Manchester via Warrington Central
It takes literally minutes to make most buildings in 3DS Max especially with the building maker plug-in. If it's prototypical scenery items then they won't be using any generic building plugins. Minutes is a far stretch and I don't think you're considering the effort it will take to make all those ...

Re: Tram Stops.
Use the platform marker as usual. However if you want to compose a tram platform (low down & small etc.) then you'll need to use invisible platforms and place whatever model you're using under it, as you can only load/unload when you have a platform marker and platform loft side-by-side.

Re: New Asian Route Coming From DTG.
I think its fictional, on the Engine Driver site the authors claim to have taken inspiration from Spirited Away As an avid fan of Studio Ghibli I can see what they mean. However it must be very loosely based as this one doesn't seem to travel across the sea, plus there doesn't appear to be any wack...

Re: DTG Announce new TS2015 features
Nice effect, but like TS2014 smoke dissipates too quickly. Unreal Cascade will allow you to change that property really easily. In fact I hope they keep support of these editors like Kismet and Cascade for devs with the next-gen TS. They're so powerful that if we could use them when creating conten...

Re: Dovetail Games take licensing for FSX
Don't know why this should be on this part of the forum, but I'm a bit conflicted about this decision... DTG have licensed a stagnant product that has seen no development since MS released Acceleration a few years back. It's probably the best simulator ever created as far as I'm concerned, so it doe...

Re: Light Direction Issues
If you changed all the directories to use the new folder then you might have an issue with the engine script's reference. Have the engine script reference point to the original location of the engine script and see if that helps.

Well the track blending is something I've been dying for a route to have for a long time. The trackwork is something that tends to get ignored when building a route and as such I highly approve of your efforts
