Re: Rail Sim Performance Tweaking
Its a very good idea to update to the latest directx which is available from Here . Um, at the risk of stating the obvious, that is NOT truly the latest version of DirectX. It's just the latest (Aug 2007) 'web-installable' version of DirectX 9.0c. The true latest version of DirectX is DirectX 10, b...

Re: Dev Tools due on 12 Nov
And the even more good news is that Railsim is going to provide support for TrackIR soon too! Really?! Where did you see that Stewart? :o I have one for FSX and must admit it's excellent. From A pm I had from Derek .........And yes, we do plan on implementing Trackir, infact the code is practically...

Re: "Lost in the Shuffle" scenario
I've just finished this mission - second attempt ;) First attempt was an immediate disaster, because I couldn't work out how to set the road past the first dummy groundsignal! Rolled past the first points (which I'd set with G) and then died promptly on the next set! Doh. Since then I have worked ou...

Re: Rail Sim Performance Tweaking
The best thing to do is optimize the OS from the beginning instead of installing more programs later on to fix something that should have been dealt with from the start. Agreed - but in some cases, there are instances of services that you want 'killed', just for that extra few clock-cycles when run...

Re: Rail Sim Performance Tweaking
From bitter personal experience, I would advise NOT messing with the MSCONFIG tool in order to shut down services on an ad-hoc basis when running a game. It's not really what MSCONFIG was designed for, and you will catch yourself out one day. Really, it's meant for debugging in times of problem - to...

Re: Bug / Error reporting & Missing options
Two more bugs for the list? Both on the S&DJR route, and although they turned up while in Free Roam mode, I'm confident they could happen in any mode. 1 - Run-round at Bath Green Park At Bath Green Park, there's not enough space between the north platform's end and the run-round points, to get the B...

Re: Bug / Error reporting & Missing options
I believe that means you haven't got a new enough graphics card. Check the back of the DVD case for details of the minimum standards. Integrated graphics on the mainboard of PCs or laptops are not supported. Thank for the reply, i have researched my graphics card and it is a ATI Radeon 9250. Would ...

Re: Bug / Error reporting & Missing options
In my testing, the clock has remained more or less on time (I didn't check exactly) but one indicated minute was one actual minute. Thanks for that info, PrinceGaz... useful to know someone's at least seeing things correctly. Now all we need to do is work out the mitigating factors! What route and ...

Re: Bug / Error reporting & Missing options
I believe the blue signs/markers are CSR (DOO train radio) channel board) and vary according to the area covered. Mileposts would be painted yellow. Thanks Vern. Looking at them closely, they appear on the F3 Driver Guide popup and appear to match the mileposts markers shown on my Quail Track map f...

Re: Bug / Error reporting & Missing options
Further to my last post about timing and speeds, I'm very definitely seeing something unusual with the Paddington Oxford Rush-hour scenario. Forget the blue mile-markers and the distances between them... the basic in-game CLOCK is running at half speed! I tried comparing the clock on the F3 Driver G...

Re: Bug / Error reporting & Missing options
Scenario blurb for the Rush Hour HST - Paddington to Oxford uses the word 'weaver' - think that should be just 'weave' (or maybe it's weavers/weaves- can't see the screen right now). Minor point, but they've acknowledged the Tork/York thing, so may as well get 'em all, eh? ;) Would be nice if the zo...

Re: Bug / Error reporting & Missing options
ability to move the map display I think you can already - try holding right-mouse-button down and dragging. It's a bit strange - be careful not to just right-click, or you'll go back to driver mode. And you can sort of keep right-click-dragging (lift the mouse and keep pedalling), and the cursor st...

Re: Bug / Error reporting & Missing options
Try as I might, it wouldn't cancel. Q button did nowt The AWS acknowledge only works in the 'Expert' mode. See the command keys card. 8) Yes, thank you... I am well aware of that already, thanks. One might ask if the cancel button only works in Expert mode, then why does the horn sound at all in In...
