Maybe have a search through the sounds section in the download area to see if anyone has already made some whistles that play tunes? As far as I'm aware you can only play play two wave files ( sound Recordings ) on the key board, space bar and B key? I can tell you how to set up the B key to play a ...

Yes, it would be nice if someone with a sound recorder could get a driver to 'play' a tune and this .wav could possibly be played with the B key? It's whatever does it for you, init.

You're most welcome, I usually end up installing too much and taking half off again, slows the PC down anyway having too much in the hard drive, TrainStore helps a lot in that respect.

Hi, Davvydo, I think you'd have to have a whistle recorded like that, playing a tune, someone might do it for you. MSTS can only play wave files, which are recorded samples of sound i.e whistle or diesel horns. Real train whistles work by steam bieng forced through a valve which makes a sound, bit l...

Hi all, I have had this problem and I overcame it by renaming each folder i.e taking the (2) off. Then I did the same with each file inside these folders. I know what you are going to say, what a massive task, but once I got started into it it didn't take that long. Not as long as re-installing two ...

Hi Jon,
triggers 6 and 7 of course are for using the V key. 10 and 11 are for the B key.

Hi Matt, yes it looks the most likely option, but in the case of DMUs it would be nice to have an alternative, so you can respond to the guard's buzzer and have your two seperate horn tones to boot.
Cheers,

Hi Matt, yes I thought of that, I tried the N key ( blower) but was met with silence, think maybe something in eng file needs to be altered as diesels don't have blowers, if you get my meaning? Can anyone think of any diesel/electric loco keys that are spare?
Regards
Nelson.

Alternative key for playing two tone horns

Hi All, I have been looking for an alternative instead of the B key to play the higher tone in my two tone horn sets so people can still have their bell or dmu buzzer, and after "mucking about" with different keys and triggers etc I have been able to use the wiper key V to play the higher tone, ( it...

B key for two tones

Hi, all, I think I've discovered how to get round your little problem. I'm looking for alternative keys to play the second horn tone and tried using V, the windscreen wiper key. I had the same problem as you where you had to press the key twice, what was happening was it was playing on one press and...

Hi Martin, the two tones I have been uploading are only for diesel/electric horns. I have altered the SMS files to "PlayOneShot" of each tone which lasts for about 2-3 seconds and can be played together pressing both keys simultaneously or seperately using space bar and B key. I did this primarily j...
