Re: Neutral Sections
The Manual is slightly out of date but driving through a Neutral is a big no no. If your unlucky then the result is a please explain and Network Rail will want to know why the breakers have tripped out. Very impressive at night.

Re: Neutral Sections
Worth mentioning that class 90's with their Thyristor control equipment can be driven through neutral sections on full power. Obviously they lose power when passing through but the driver doesn't have to shut off the power controller. Where on Earth did you get that from? I can assure you this is n...

Re: Class 60 Advanced - Just Trains - Coming soon
Thanks for the clarification Peter. Looks like it's all or nothing really unless there is a way of removing the Vigiliance .

Re: Class 60 Advanced - Just Trains - Coming soon
But this model is different to the real Class 60. No DSD, No TPWS, No SSF. And, it appears, when you Isolate the Vigilance it Isolates the AWS. :( The version of the Class 60 I bought is not broke - so I won't Fix it. :) Peter[/quote] Peter I would not worry too much over the Vigilance and AWS isola...

Re: Class 60 Advanced - Just Trains - Coming soon
To clear up a point here the 60 has 3 safety systems which interact with each other. 1. The DSD which operates via a large Pedal. This system has no sound linked to it unless you release the Foot Pedal whilst in direction. The bleeps will sound for 7 seconds before an emergency Brake application ini...

Re: Class 60 - PBL Drivers Braking instructions
These instructions came about due to the very aggressive nature of the Direct Brake on PBL Locos. These are Class 60/66/67 and 92s. Bearing in mind the Class 92 Dynamic Brake is automatically activated. It was found that being a Direct Brake which removed the need for Relay Valves Locos were constan...

Class 60 - PBL Drivers Braking instructions
With the Class 60 advance released I thought I would put together the correct operation of the PBL Brake equipment from a Drivers perspective. These have been updated from the original Manual. Brake Pipe Gauge: Unlike a Westinghouse /D&M system, there are two Needles. The small outer is the Control ...

Re: Class 91 and Class 92 Progress
It would be fun if the game was able to accurately simulate OHLE power consumption, as those who double head 2 live 92s would find out why 92s don't double head when live in real life  ... Which is why it's a pain when you get more than two 92s in the same section on the West Coast. Think this...

Re: Realistic Advice for the Betterment of Driving
The Train Lenght Button is used as stated in this Thread. Also can be used to give an indication when the last Wagon has cleared a changing Gradient change, in addition it is used to indicate when clear of route features that have special route restrictions, ie heavy axle weights, Container restrict...

A 90 SLU Train of these, very realistic  I'm more interested in the operation of the 92. Any Cab shots? Wh...

Re: Realistic Advice for the Betterment of Driving
Regarding lengths. Actual permissible lengths are held within the TOPS system. Trains are made up accordingly but must not exceed the length published for a Route. The TOPS system will reject any over length consist and not allow any Train Documents to be produced. Routes are made up in Standard Len...

Re: Realistic Advice for the Betterment of Driving
When running on double yellows it is normal practice to ease back to a point where the Signal ahead turns to Green as you approach. Once again this is encouraged by DB as you save wear and tare and maintain the kinetic energy stored within the Train. Once on yellows time is no longer an issue.

Re: Realistic Advice for the Betterment of Driving
I can only speak for what is in place with the TOC I work for (DB). Re taking power, one notch at a time with min 1 second pause between notches. Applies powering up and down. (Class 66 & 67). Class 60s totally different due to way Traction Control system operates. Re speed. The actual maximum Train...

Re: Class 60 Advanced - Just Trains - Coming soon
I've been lucky enough to have a couple of cab rides in these... I would say that they are an under-rated loco really amongst us enthusiasts, even if they did seem to mark the end of the Class 20s... Class 20 / 31 /37/ 47s ..................... thank God EWS had the sense to get rid of them. Every ...
