With my Creative X-Fi and my 5.1 speakers i also hear all sounds from the correct direction and have the feeling to drive in a real 3D world.

The activation of EAX brings more sound effects (i mean) - so you hear an echo in the tunnel or you have better sounds in cab.

if you have the soundpacks for MK1 and MK3 from AP, a german user made an adaption for the wagons included with the class 67 add-on.

German Railroads will bring shortly an update for the sound, the doors and the first scenario which still have some problems with the shunter loco at the beginning.
