Power failure

If a massive network-wide power failure occurred there would be a more general civil situation in progress as it would imply a localised or general national grid failure. This would require significant attention from the emergency services to get people out of lifts, out of the tube, and ensuring th...

announcements

There's a Jamaican guy who does the most amazing annoucements I've ever heard on Victoria tube station at peak hours. Not only does he have the best accent I've ever heard, he embellishes his annoucements with bizarre details like "This is the oh eight fifty three train to Brixton" (like a tube pass...

Re: But, even so, surely a proportion of this current could offset engine power needed? No, because any transducer (a device that converts energy from one form to another) is always less than 100% efficient, in most cases by a long way. Thus if you attempted to use a dynamo or similar to provide pow...

Up/Down

So what if you had an East / West route in the Midlands that has its centre directly above London ? Neither direction would take you nearer London, unless up became down in the middle.

Sorry, being pedantic !

Anything low voltage DC that needs to be working for the rest of it to work ? Pilot lights, relays that kind of thing. Sounds like an H/R somewhere that's being blown off every now and then, could be a poor physical connection or a soldered joint breaking down, I guess the vibration must make these ...

I think it's contiguous memory - when memory gets used it gets fragmented, which means that although you might have 512MB and there's nothing else running the largest available block might only be 64MB. What this means is that after a period of continuous use your computer has less memory available ...

AI Signalling Blues !

Has anyone else noticed the problem where you run through an activity in the editor using the realtime thing with some fairly complex AI traffic and all is fine. The you run it again, without making any changes and everything comes to an inexplicable hault due to an illogical red signal ? It's drivi...

Stupid Question

Hi everyone, Sorry - I know this has been covered a million times before - but which parameter of which file needs to be modified to 'lower' a cabview ? I have to keep diving under the table driving the 117 on Ruabon when it looks like I'm about to be quite seriously injured by the mail hanger thing...

Things under platforms

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the things you see underneath platforms are ? They seem to be fixed to the 'wall' under the platform in the vertical aspect, and have something like a slider on them, or definitely something that can move up and down. Is it perhaps to make sure the platfo...

I also found these two links to videos of another game - it looks awfully
like a cab ride video on DVD that you can actually control, either that
or the PS2 is a damned fine piece of kit.

Playstation 2 Simulator

Hi Everyone, I went to "Game-On", a computer games exhibition at the Barbican on Sunday. They had a PS2 game, called something like "Drive The Train", which is a Japan only release at the moment. I think "drive The Train" is a literal conversion of the Japanese title. The sim had its own controller,...
