Can you affect the direction of the steam when the engine is stationery. When the loco is stationery it would normally just rise straight up.

Smashing work.

How about a crosswind? (smoke stack too)

Re: Glasgow Airport Rail Link!!!

Maybe the route will be free with the purchase of the new Class, and this stand alone version will be the official demo for Railworks.

Surely it would have been a better option releasing it for RW rather than as a standalone sim?
Just for the assets alone.

Re: Fun with particles

This is a very interesting new development and adding on to what Tazman said, can the state i.e. volume of particles be changed by how much the regulator is open? As usually with the loco stationary just a little amount escapes the drain cocks, yet there are huge plumes when a loco is first moving....

Re: Glasgow Airport Rail Link!!!

I hope so, but I'm not seeing that written anywhere. Only that the new Class will be available for Railworks.

Re: Glasgow Airport Rail Link!!!

Shame Railworks users will just get the motive power, and not the route, and have to purchase this game to drive the motive power we have in one game in another games route. Lots of money to spend to enjoy the same engine on two platforms.

Re: Section 0 Status Updates and Implementation of new features

Maybe there hasn't been updates since the past ones they were hammering out bi-weekly because they introduced new bugs or never fixed ones it claimed they fixed? So now they are taking their time, really testing the stuff thoroughly. The rate at which they first were sending out updates is virtually...

Fun with particles

Someone over at trainsim asked about Cylindercock effects and if anyone tried attempting to make them more real looking. I quickly read through Bill Hobbs break down of the stuff, picked up on it very quickly and knocked this out. After a few hours of playing I came up with this. http://www.youtube....

Re: Newcastle to York "Modern" - now released

Whats the framerates like with this route? Same as the default route? I'm in windowed mode (1280x800 4x AA / 16 AF) as I post blasting down the mainline at 121mph heading to Yarm Line EB, trees all around and pushing 128fps with everything set on high. #2 view it drops down to 86fps-112. This route...

Re: bored with railworks

Anyone bored with Railworks should try routebuilding and content creation. It's creative and challenging and it's kept me amused for years. ^ This. I got bored with driving, then on one of my days off started digging through the forums and reading, and reading. Learned how reskinning is done, and s...

Re: bored with railworks

it was more the fact there is now a high/low beam and working ditch lights now. User created. The beam effect and glow can be toggled off and not what the point of that was. Instead of just having 1 beam, we can can now have high and low beams along w/ functional ditch lights, since that is.. What i...

Re: bored with railworks

Do you know what can be done in RW's via scripts? Have a chat with Ben Laws to see what he achieved with the 158 and Pendolino. regards Derek Another good example of what scripts can do is what PikeHKR did for USA loco's over at flightsim. What some new assets and scripting can do. He did a supreme...

Re: Newcastle to York "Modern" - now released

Interesting, never saw the class 91 before. That "slab end" cab is very unique and nothing I've seen before in the states. . Do they not run these in the HST configuration with a loco on each end? They move the loco to the opposite end at the EOL?

Re: Newcastle to York "Modern" - now released

As I'm from the states and have NO idea, what is some of the electric motiv power that runs down this line? I'm a huge fan of electrics. Also, is any of it available for RW's (or RS) yet? I like overseas rail, but I don't have the time (or desire) to study the history of these lines and know what ru...

Re: Newcastle to York "Modern" - now released

OHL poles won't bother me. The overhead wire system is flawed to begin with as they will run through bridges and footbridges if not built high enough above them. In a perfect world they could be variable height with a full flexing pantograph, but I wouldn't wish that on any code writer. A bit much f...
