Re: MSTS doing my head in
Well done. One thing to remember - all locos that use those .sms files will now have the new whistles. Another approach is to first restore your original 3c-80d-cab01.sms etc. files and make copies, rename the new ones, for example, 3c-80d-cab01-King.sms and make the whistle change to those, leaving...

Re: MSTS doing my head in
In that case you must have done something wrong. Check around and see if you can find a tutorial on aliasing.
What do the whistle lines in the .sms files look like now?
Bob.

Re: MSTS doing my head in
In that case Dan, it's probably a good time for you to learn about the inner workings of MSTS. It's very difficult to troubleshoot through the forums. FIRST BACKUP ANYTHING YOU ARE GOING TO CHANGE. Look in one of the .eng files in the pack and find a line that starts with "Sound". There will be two ...

Re: How can I contact Chris Reilly about one of his uploads?
I too can remember a discussion a while ago about ":" in file names but can't for the life of me remember which thread it was in. From memory, the ":" gave Windows a problem, but if the activity was installed and then checked in, say, Route_Riter, it checked out okay. So the whole file name and the ...

Re: Wagon Brakes not being removed
Curiosity has got the better of me so I've been doing a bit of testing. First I created a test activity using the stock in question on my test track that had the loco start light engine and the mail vans in their 10 item consist sitting on the track behind. (I tried starting with the full consist as...

Re: Wagon Brakes not being removed
I thought I had posted a reply but it seems to have disappeared. Here goes again. Just a thought guys. I standardise all of my MSTS stock with auto couplers and air brakes using Route_Riter. Generally that works okay, but I did run into one situation where it didn't. The loco was originally vacuum-b...

Re: IOW Network V6
chrisreb, Clemmo47's method includes running a verify on the newly created Assets folder. That will reload all of the Kuju folder including all of the DLC that the users has, so there are actually no economies using that approach and the key is to make sure only the required provider/products are ti...

Re: IOW Network V6
Did you verify the files after you set up the dedicated Assets folder? If not, you are probably missing some default assets.
Separate Assets folders should not be necessary if you follow my procedure for unselecting the non-required provider/products.
Bob.

Re: IOW Network V6
Colin,
I can understand your frustration. It's unfortunate that things turned out the way they did.
However, instead of totally withdrawing your activities, I would encourage you to make them available in the UKTS library. It would be a shame for all of your hard work to go to waste.

Re: IOW Network V6
Mervyn, You don't need to get into the Editor to check which assets are ticked. I had the same issue, which is why I used RW_Tools. If you follow my procedure outlined a couple of pages back you will be able to see which ones are currently ticked and un-tick the many that aren't needed. You are corr...

Re: IOW Network V6
I'VE DONE IT!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D What I did was: - Ran the route through RW_Tools' "Check Selected Route". - When it asked if I wanted to see a list of shapes, said yes and saved the list to a file. - Manipulated the list of shapes using Excel so that I got it down to a list of 31 Provider/Product ...

Re: IOW Network V6
I might have found a clue as to why it will run for some and not for others. (And there again I might not have!) I thought I'd try to check out the provider issue with RW_Tools. I clicked on the "Route Building Tools" tab and then the "Edit Providers" entry, and waited for the progress bar to get al...

Re: IOW Network V6
A couple of thoughts: I'm not sure how system-dependent the issue is. (I'm not saying it isn't, just that I don't know.) I can run all my DLC plus v6 (and the required assets) on a Core2Duo running XP home 32bit with 2Gb of RAM. I can't run v6 on my main machine with all of my TS2012 content and it'...
