Re: RW2 : The Unhappy Thread

Mark, Simon (I noticed I have been beaten to it, but I'll post my solution anyway!) Have you used one of the routines around to swap the function of the A and D keys? Since the advent of Rail Simulator, I have used the process devised by Matt Peddlesden (Neutronic) called "MSTS Commands for Rail Sim...

Re: RW2 : The Unhappy Thread

TheTazman wrote Please can you tell me how you disabled your HUD? I have moved a .bin file as suggested in anoter posting but it did not remove it. Hello Simon I think you may have misunderstood me - I haven't actually got rid of the HUD - just re-activated the F4 key to switch it off. I have always...

Re: RW2 : The Unhappy Thread

It's interesting that Railworks produces the passionate arguments that cause this type of thread to be locked periodically. From my own point of view, I suspect it is down to frustration that Railworks appears to be capable of so much more, but that so little real progress has been made in addressin...

Re: RW2 : The Unhappy Thread

I have been using a batch file to reinstate the old-style A+D controls, as devised by Neutronic for RS, and that does include the DriveMode.bin file. I will verify the cache once more and restore the commands one at a time, see what happens and let you know. Just to confirm that the over-writing of...

Hello John Many thanks for your reply - I think you have pointed me in the right direction. Re: RW2 : The Unhappy Thread

Everything is now so wonderful, that I am thinking of moving over to the "Happy" thread Well, I'm afraid I have to withdraw my earlier, albeit sarcastic, comment. I have returned to Railworks this morning to find that F4 no longer removes the Fisher-Price display and that I am once again stuck with...

Re: RW2 : The Unhappy Thread

If you can remember how this thread started, it's good news at last - I've verified my cache (twice - if only life was a little longer!) and can now switch the Fisher-Price HUD off with F4.

Everything is now so wonderful, that I am thinking of moving over to the "Happy" thread :)

Best wishes

RW2 : The Unhappy Thread

I thought long and hard about posting my view of Railworks 2 - I'm sure I'll be blasted from the sky pretty quickly, but at least the heading gives a clue! The HUD has been referred to as the Fisher-Price control panel, and that sums it up perfectly for me - it should perhaps be referred to as the c...

Re: Beginners Guide to Plausible steam Era Scenarios

This is an excellent piece of work, and deserves to be cross-referenced to the other simulators because of its generic nature. Perhaps it should be a condition of uploading a scenario that the writer confirms that he has read and understood it! (Joke!) The most obvious omissions in most scenarios ar...

Re: Mouse Control

Hello Mark Many thanks for your reply - I'm afraid it didn't work - I slowed the mouse right down so that it was virtually unusable in windows, and the problem remains. I'm going to return to v128 - I don't remember it being a problem then, but I can't be sure. In the meantime, all suggestions grate...

Mouse Control

Good evening all May I say how much I am looking forward to further development of Open Rails - I am very impressed with what I have seen so far. I understand from the docs that mouse control of the camera view is available, but, on my installation, the movement is so violent as to be unusable. Is t...

Re: Railworks Posting Guidelines?

It was me who wrote: "if you can't say something good about (somebody/something), then don't say anything at all" I'm sorry my irony was misunderstood - I was trying express my support of the Original Poster in his assessment of the way the Forums are heading. Still, it's good to know that a represe...

Re: Railworks Posting Guidelines?

I think my long-departed grand-mother had the answer to this problem.

To paraphrase her... "if you can't say something good about (somebody/something), then don't say anything at all".

Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if everyone either agreed or said nothing.

Re: The AI traffic is perfect, nothing to see here, move along

There seems to me to be a significant difference between "unstructured" AI and "not working" AI
