Falmouth Branch - a heretic's view
Spurred on by the comments on this Forum (and the half-price sale, of course!), I have recently bought the Falmouth Branch add-on. I will, no doubt, be branded as a heretic, but I have to say that I was disappointed to see that many aspects of route-building have not progressed, and that the naivity...

Re: Filter air going in to your PC
Hello everyone A word of warning on this - if you are considering pre-filtering the air going into your computer, you really need to boost the power of your fans to compensate. The cooling of your computer, or any other heating/cooling system for that matter, depends on the volume of air being shift...

Re: Catch Points/Trap Points
Hello Andy Many thanks for your comments - it is indeed a mine-field! I have successfully linked the ground signal controlling the exit from the yard to the "pretend" trap-point - if I change the point in the 2D Map, the signal aspect changes - does that imply that the installation is kosher as far ...

Re: Catch Points/Trap Points
Morning all Thanks for the suggestions - I had forgotten about the Default Track Makeover - it certainly makes a vast improvement to the look and feel of the scene. I managed to make a trap using the bufferless track add-on, and it certainly seems to work as far as the Player Train is concerned - th...

Catch Points/Trap Points
Good afternoon all Often overlooked are Catch Points at the foot of inclines and Trap Points protecting running lines from sidings and loops etc. I've tried to simulate one with a standard turnout, but, of course, one is left with the buffer-stop representing the open-ended track. http://www.flickr....

Re: Orphan Track
Hello Rich
Many thanks for reply - there was indeed a wagon tucked away at the end of the siding in question, and removing that cured the problem - must remember that one!
Best wishes

Orphan Track
Afternoon all I am working on a route and have found three sections of track which are effectively "orphaned" - you can select them, but not delete, move, add-to or otherwise modify them. It is, I presume, the same as the old MSTS Blue Pole problem. I have found the references to to these orphan sec...

Frame-Rate Curiosity
I have been sampling some of the routes released as part of the Challenge, and experienced a rather strange variation in frame-rates. I am going to mention two routes - please don't think I am criticising them - I mention them by name to see if anyone else has experienced the same effect. I have to ...

UK Semaphore Signals
I have my doubts about the real value of this thread, but here goes. Summary: Incorrect operation/visual appearance of semaphore signals My pet hate is signals facing the opposite direction coming off as I approach - it happens on all routes featuring bidirectional single track operation with semaph...

Re: RW2 : The Unhappy Thread
Hello "Trav" Many thanks for your reply - I was trying to load the "Sort it Out" scenario for The Port Road. I am happy about the SBHH itself, because I do not have the Class 37 loco, but it was the fact that the error message was hidden behind the loading screen that concerns me. I will try other r...

Re: RW2 : The Unhappy Thread
Good morning To be fair, it doesn't happen very often, but this morning I had a "Something Bad Has Happened" event whilst loading a scenario in RW2. Not much of a problem you might think, but read on... Having launched the scenario loading, I went to make the proverbial cup of tea and slice of toast...

Re: RW2 : The Unhappy Thread
Hello Mark No, it's the other way round - to ensure that F4 does switch the new HUD on and off, you must have the brand new version of DriverMode.bin that comes with Railworks2. The other files in the InputMappers folder, relating to steam, diesel and electric locos, intermediate and expert can stil...
