What's the best MU or locomotive for a learner?
Hi all,
What's the best MU or locomotive for a learner?
I think the mistake I made was wanting to drive Pendolinos straight away.
Many thanks,
Steve.

Re: Some newbie questions
Alternatively, if you're driving a multiple unit or a train with locos at both ends (e.g. the HST), download MSTSBin which lets you swap ends http://mstsbin.uktrainsim.com/eng/eng.html. MSTSBin also improves MSTS's memory settings, alternates between day/night cabs (if the loco uses them) while dri...

Some newbie questions
Hi all, Can someone help me with a few questions that I have, please? If you have a train with a single locomotive is it possible to change the locomotive to the other end of the train? Is it possible to join routes so that an explore or activity can start on one route and continue onto other? How e...

Do any of the rail sims have an "autopilot" function?
Hi all, I was just wondering do any of the rail sims have an "autopilot" function where you specify the route/activity and rolling stock to use and the PC controls the train whilst you sit back and enjoy the scenery. I know it kind of defeats the object of the game but it might be nice occasionally ...

Re: How easy is it to create basic activities?
I tried the new route initially and the activity ended after 1 second while the train was still on the platform at Coventry. I then checked the stations the activity stopped at and there was only one in the list - Coventry - which was unchecked. So I checked Coventry and was then able to drive the t...

Re: How easy is it to create basic activities?
I think I figured out where I was going wrong on the Coventry to Rugby run with the train being forced to stop on a red light just outside of Rugby. I was aware that I needed to change tracks to stop at Rugby, rather than bypass the station. It was simply a matter of changing a couple of points in t...

Re: How easy is it to create basic activities?
Many thanks for the replies. I tried to create a basic passenger activity - a shuttle service - between Coventry and Rugby. I don't know where I'm going wrong but in order to get the start and end point to link up - and for the start platform to be at Coventry and the end platform to be at Rugby a n...

How easy is it to create basic activities?
Hi all, I have West Coast Main Line Euston-New Street add-on. I would like to drive trains just between local stations like Coventry to Rugby or New Street but with the traffic, etc that you don't get in the explore route mode. Is there anyway to do this - I thought I might need to create my own act...

Newbie question about "2 minor operational errors"
Hi all, I've just completed my first activity - the one where you have to drive the Class 50 to via Horton to see the Flying Scotsman and then onwards to Settle. The game says I completed it okay but with "2 minor operational errors". Both errors are that the emergency brake was applied twice. What ...

Hi all,
Can someone please confirm whether or not users are allowed to change their passwords to something more memorable?
If so, can you please tell me how to do it?
Many thanks,
Steve.

Re: Are these routes and train stock available anywhere, please?
Many thanks for the great replies - they are very much appreciated. Just a quick question - is the Thames Mersey add-on available as a paid-for download anywhere or is it only available on DVD? I've found a site which advertises the Cross City add-on as a download, is the same option available for T...

Newbie needing help with the controls, please
Hi all, I'm new to MSTS and struggling with the controls. Which of the control keys do I need - I'm only driving modern diesels and electrics at the moment - not really into steam. The main problem that I have is stopping in time for stations even though I manage most of the time to stay within the ...
