Re: Operation Layers and groups

With piper, if it goes in exactly the wrong direction, change both values to negative.

Not sure what you require with the second part of the question - the origin of all objects in a group is the group axis.

Re: Operation Layers and groups

From a final model efficiency point of view, yellow boxes are "bad" (unless you require the model to have animations - you can only animate groups, not objects) So for simple scenery models, keep all the brown boxes in the main group. However, before your model is complete, it is sometimes a good id...

Re: Modelling Tutorial - Simple(!) buildings

You might need to uninstal 8.1.4 and install 8.1.5 but give them a go first:

It takes quite a bit of experimentation with those - basically if one doesn't work as expected, undo and try another mode.

Let us know how it goes

Re: Modelling Tutorial - Simple(!) buildings

It looks like my plugins for 8.1.1+ do not work with 8.1.4 or 8.1.5 - I'll recompile them all soon and post an update on the amabilis forums when they're ready. Another way to achieve the same effect is to select the faces or object - Select Edit/Copy - select the original object and paste - select ...

Re: SPRING MODEL RAILWAY EXHIBITION

I made it there for an hour or so with Ollie who dragged me away far too soon.
Good to see you again John and nice to meet you Geoff.

The stand was certainly popular. The chuffing sounds in the small hall helped with the general atmosphere of model railways :)

Re: Operation Layers and groups

Keep those questions coming, it's the best way to learn. I found the part in the tutorial. 1 - The equalise operation on the edge has shifted the points making the Y (up/down) coordinates equal. This has changed the shape of the "boards" on the end so the edges are no longer parallel. I need to shif...

Operation Layers and groups

Sorry for the delay. I think I've worked out why Paul was having problems with the extrude using face direction. I've started with a scaled cube, divided along the top face and dragged the top up to the roof apex. I have also selected the bottom face and run my shift centre plugin - to put the main ...

Re: Problems with 3DC

Hi Paul We're all here to help out. (It might be best to start a new topic for this) Extrude: Once you have done an operation in 3DC you can use the object operation layers list to adjust the operation after it has been applied. I'm a bit busy at work this morning but I'll try and get together a mor...
