Brilliant!
I think you should put that one on the UKTS downloads - I never got round to putting mine there, it's a useful little hut.

Re: Operation Layers and groups
If you have IGS and ACE files then it's probably best to point you at these tutorials first - This is how I started with RS, I'm not the expert in this area, I've not used RS for some time, but there are plenty of others on this forum who can help :) http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=234&...

Re: Operation Layers and groups
Sorry, I wasn't very clear there - you need to click on the text area next to the blue box - unfortunately if there is nothing in the custom field, it's not visible and is not very big. In your example, it looks like all the custom fields are empty - you can also add the field when viewing the objec...

Re: Operation Layers and groups
Material manager, it's a bit of an awkward one to use, I'll try and describe it a bit here. Basically the whole scene is shown in the tree view on the left. All custom fields and some properties are selectable at the top. When you select the railsim field, it will show the custom field value for all...

Re: Operation Layers and groups
No problems 7.1.2.0 is the version I currently use it is the most stable version, 8 still has problems with animations. - you will need to uninstall 7.1.1.2, resinstall 7.1.2.0 and re-enter your licence code http://www.3d-canvas.com/downloads/3DCanvas7120.zip You can often find other patches and ver...

Re: Operation Layers and groups
A couple of options for putting a cylinder on it's side - something you often need to do. You could just change the axis properties with a 90 degree rotation in X or Z. Select the object again and run my normalise selected group script - the axis will then be back to the world axis. Alternatively, a...

The Lickey Banker - Progress
Thought I'd start it's own thread as I'm getting close to a release soon... I think the bulk of the model is complete, I just need to finish the cab shape and add a few controls. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b79/decapod/WIP/bbb3.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b79/decapod/WIP/bbb2.jpg htt...

Re: Operation Layers and groups
When painting I usually select faces and use the paintpot operation on the left - with the orientation mode this can give slightly more control than the paintbrush. It takes a bit more practice though.

Re: Shape Fixer 1.0 Post here...
Hi John,
That model does have a few problems with tiny polygons (several edges are below 1mm), mostly around the area of the end steps - the original author would need to fix the model.
MSTS does not like those polys.

Re: Operation Layers and groups
This is my third attempt to post here. laptop battery fell out, internet crashed, I need patience! 1) The piper plugin leaves the original object intact and adds the elbow object. The first face you selected is still there. Removing this face can be difficult when all the objects are merged, you nee...

Re: Operation Layers and groups
Hi Geoff, To reverse a bend, just select the new end of the first elbow object and run the piper again but make the angle and radius the reverse of their first values. You should get an exact reverse of the first elbow. The original piper plugin was not written by me, we temporarily lost the author ...

Re: Operation Layers and groups
1) yes - when you rotate an object, you are actually rotating the group. However, there is a shift tool (white/yellow square) on the right vertical tool bar which when you select an object will only change the object point coordinates relative to the group. The group is unchanged (unless you hold do...

Re: Operation Layers and groups
First reply - Piper plugin. I placed a cylinder next to a large cube for reference (near the minimum X face) and selected the bottom face before running the plugin. I want to add a rotate about the Z axis of 45 degrees, radius 1 metre http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b79/decapod/3dc/3DPip1.jpg Resu...
