Re: Northern European Route
Yes, it is a great route - and with the patch for 3GB address space now included in RW - most systems with 4GB RAM will be able to run it. But, it has a few catchyas, which we users seem to need a bit of volume to have fixed in the distributed version - in order to make it a real rail road. This rou...

Heracles Crash ... LINE1105 RW build 110.8b
This may be worth looking into - either way or the other. After collecting data on the trip from the 2009 timetable I decided on a 4th go at the Rdg-Oxf career move  To fish out the screenario timetable I delayed pressing F1 go get out of that view longer than usual; when I finally pressed F1 ...

Re: Railroad Traffic Planner software
So how exactly does this software work? Do you patch in a route, put in your consists, and then start plotting you route route there? It does look like an epic piece of software, something I will seriously invest in, if I knew that it worked. Yes, something like that. Current version handles only o...

Re: Looks like an update just arrived...
Agree nothing historic there, but how did you get past Hohemlimberg Reception 3? It's 10.09 now and I've been held here since 10.00, scheduled departure 10.04. (edit 1) Regulator 0% Reverser 0% Trainbrake 50% Wheel slip ? ? ? Maybe it's just one of those days? (edit 2) Eventually NV5 passed a...

Re: Changing the times on timetabled services
Save the scenario before running the VCR! Or modifications since last save will be gone, when/if time is reset before saving the scenario. Check the percentage in the performance fields in the PickUp or/and Via flyouts. The default value is 75%. 100% means max acceleration and keeping speed limit. ...

Re: Looks like an update just arrived...
Same here. Maybe they (the empty folders) should be there, maybe they should not, maybe they are a simple packaging error, maybe they are reserved for future use? Those folders have not been touched by the update.

Re: Why does the despatcher verify all the paths in advance...
I agree that the ability to implement unusual circumstances, is what makes driving interesting. However, I would prefer a tick box for "ignore track constrain on direction/traintype/speed" in the destination editor instead of making it more difficult to create functioning (timetabled) scenarios - th...

Re: Railroad Traffic Planner software
Looking at the file formats for the RTP SLI (Railroad Traffic Planner StringLine Interface), they are tab separated text files easily produced by a spreadsheet application. Still I widened my search little finding that this product may still be a prospect tool. A few interesting documents: http://ww...

Re: Can't make *.rwp file
Just 2 questions: a) you did name the file(s)? b) you did select the items and press the >>> button to move them to the package area on the right hand side of the packager pane? Right? This question makes me wonder what the protected attribute actually does to package content. Could it prevent savin...

Re: Why does the despatcher verify all the paths in advance...
Visual (graphic) planning of traffic may reduce contention at intersections and platforms. The routing and scheduling seems to include (to some extent) priority, performance and consist specific running time. Determination of an optimal scheduling is at least NP-hard, which means, that computing tim...

Railroad Traffic Planner software
This thread is about software to assist scenario creation. On could make a usable string line diagram on a piece of paper or a white board, even in a suitable spreadsheet graphic template. But why not use the real thing, if it is available. The Railroad Traffic Planner from http://www.volpe.dot.gov/...

Re: Why does the despatcher verify all the paths in advance...
Great question! Cuts to the core of desktop simulation of railway operations. The simple answer is probably: to make it possible to run the scenario with a reasonable frame rate. Performing real-time routing of all trains may be a time consuming task for the CPU. So reducing this task by precalculat...

Re: Crawling AI?
I use portals a lot for AI traffic in timetabled scenarios. On Bath-Templecombe it is a must. The warning about trains in the same block when using portals for entry came with 108.0a and is a pain. Interesting point about Entry/Exit signals at portals! That could be a the problem, but I do not know ...
