Re: Can´t close the HUD!
I too like my own post the best. The posts AndiS link to also describe a plausible scenario and its resolution. It is however, not the only path to trouble with keys. It is always a good idea, to make sure you have the latest game file version from Steam and that you understand the implications of a...

Check Andy's wonderful link to Network Rail a few posts up. Thanks Andy
A little - way - down the list you'll find "Rules of the Route", which contain links to information vital for scenario authers
Timing Points, Headway, Platform Length for the prototype of the UK routes for RW.

Re: Free camera view - Can it be smooth?
I believe the rubber-banding comes from a different source: the AI engine is being run at a fixed framerate, which doesn't match the timing of frames sent to the graphics card. It is also not being interpolated to match up with the timing of the player's physics engine. There is absolutely nothing ...

Re: Falmouth Branch Performance
We've seemed to side track a bit on page files and online status. What is interesting here is the nice little tool, CPU-Control, linked to in a previous post. It controls the processor affinity accessible in Task Manager in a much more convenient way. If you have stutter and rubber-banding on an oth...

Re: Falmouth Branch Performance
Just set it into automatic mode - that seems to work well enough on my machine. Very interesting! Can you give us numbers for the relative performance improvement of this fix? Does it allow RailworksProc2 to use more CPU time than 50% on 2 cores or 25% on 4 cores? You can also control processor (co...

Re: Falmouth Branch Performance
Like many similar games, RW2 tries to maximize framerate performance by taking all the CPU time it possibly can. 8) A similar tactic is used for all system resources, memory, disk, sound and graphics. There's a reason Greed is named among the Capital Vices. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven...

Ah, but thats normal. Early in the morning, that far north, the houses, the trees and the tracks ain't out yet! You need to give people some information, they can work on, about your system. Otherwise you will just get more standard suggestions: like give it time and try to lower your graphical sett...

Re: Oxford-Paddington route disappeared + Seeberg Bahn
After a couple of hangs, I ran a verify game cache - just to be sure - no prb found, but when I restarted RW2, Oxford-Paddington route had gone from the route list. For the same reason: no RouteProperties.xml! Replacing it seem to help, but ... What, when, where and why gets this file deleted? Stea...

Re: Be-devilled with scenario load failures
If the the train is not at the final destination, when schedule is completed, then the train will be driven there. This may cause access and timing conflicts with other trains driving schedules or on their way to FD. Express trains are very sensitive to timing and does not like be blocked for too lo...

Re: Train Derailment Due To Consist Tilt
Haven't got the loco in question, but I have observed what looks like the loco being dropped on the rails at last moment upon entering drive mode. It looks like an artifact of scenario init. This can be observed among other places in some of the Career scenarios for the Flying Scotsman. On the FS tr...

That view seems to stress graphics. It maybe be necessary to lower some graphical settings to medium or low.

Why a simmer reviews a PC train simulator game...
Reviewing as a game? Why not? PC games may have a larger market, than PC simulations. RW2 may be on the track to become a real rail simulation, but that is a far goal. The current game-engine may never get there. It is however, IMHO, probably the most accessible train cab driver simulation currently...

Re: Memory upgrade or new computer?
Having the extra one GB from 3 to 4 may well be worth while for demanding routes. Windows, network and HW-drivers need memory too, so with only 3GB of DRAM, the system would begin paging before RW2 had reached its effective size limit. With 4GB and 32bit OS a single greedy user application - like a ...
