I agree totally, Michael. The first thing I do, when I see something that looks good, is not, "I'll copy that" but "how the hell was that made?" whether texture, model or effect. Then I'll try to come up with my own version! Now it may be that the way I make my version is the same. It may be differe...

I think everybody can live together. There has to be a certain amount of cross-fertilisation, otherwise everything stagnates: one person's ideas can be used to spark new ways of doing things, it can work both ways: doesn't have to be classed as plagiarism unless it's a direct copy. At this moment, m...

You should make sure you have a modern 3d graphics card, with uptodate drivers as a first requisite. If you're happy that your card is OK, do the following: Right click on the desktop shortcut for Gmax trainsim gamepak, click properties. In the target text box, you'll see something like: %GMAXLOC%gm...

Me to :) Thankfully the fix which a member of the Auran site posted last week worked .... John, could you be a bit specific please? I've searched Auran.com and their forums, but, apart from one reference to the MS fix of the update, which you have to have sent from MS tech support, there's no other...

Speaking purely on my own behalf, as a modeller who's made a lot of scenery for commercial routes, I would not like to see my models put into a freeware route. It wouldn't be for any copyright reasons (although I think you'd run into those very quickly), just that a lot of models have been made spec...

Addendum to my hurried method. The Boolean works more reliably if the object you're subtracting from has more than two faces on the side the arch intersects: i.e. when the box or whatever is generated, either the height or the width has more than 1 segment. Otherwise the boolean doesn't always cut t...

Select all the vertices, then click the Weld Selected button. If it tells you there's none within the threshold, increase the threshold value slightly: the default is 0.1m, so you should be OK for 0.2m Now make a box, or any other shape model for the outer part of the portal, and subtract your shape...
