Re: Blueprint (asset) Editor Missing Blueprints?
Keep at it! It is VERY frustrating sometimes, and I seem to spend more time in the Asset editor than I do in Max, but I think the results are worth it. So, have you made the fence post models and previewed them? If so, then it's just a matter of adding the reference to the model in the Start, Middle...

Re: Blueprint (asset) Editor Missing Blueprints?
Sorry, my fault entirely: I'd opened a scenery bp instead of a loft...
Anyhoo, in the loft or track section blueprint, the reference to the igs file for the loft goes in the Cross section ID field:

Re: Blueprint (asset) Editor Missing Blueprints?
Right click on the folder and pick New Blueprint from the menu, http://www.3dtspeter.co.uk/images/screenshots/UKTS/bp_editor.jpg The dialog box then has all the different bp types: http://www.3dtspeter.co.uk/images/screenshots/UKTS/bp_type.jpg You'll need to rename it to suit, and add the reference ...

Re: 3ds max export problem?
That error can be generated if there's been any non-uniform scaling put on it: collapse the stack, reset xform and collapse again.
In a couple of cases I've had to select all the polygons on an object, clone as a new object, delete (or hide) the original and rename to suit.

Re: Bogies and engine Alignment
Hmm. I wonder if a Garret or Mallet are possible without major trauma! I'm not looking to volunteer to try it, though: I don't need any more frustration!

Re: Bogies and engine Alignment
I think you're definitely going to have to add a "ghost" wheel under the cab on that one, if only to fool the physics that the wheelbase is a bit longer. The Radial tank does something similar, if not so extreme, if I only put the default two drivers in the correct places! It looks like loco bogies ...

Here's the heirarchies I've used: all shadow models excluded for clarity. The L&Y version: http://www.3dtspeter.co.uk/images/screenshots/UKTS/L_Y_heirarchy.jpg The LMS version: http://www.3dtspeter.co.uk/images/screenshots/UKTS/LMS_heirarchy.jpg I can't detect any difference in the running of the tw...

Re: Bogies and engine Alignment
p.s. to above.
I've also been trying various heirarchies in the model itself. The docs imply that any wheels should be linked to the bogey object, which seems to be more stable for me, but the default stock and example have the driving wheels at root, so go figure!

Re: Bogies and engine Alignment
Definitely don't use the "correct" method as "detailed" in the documentation: doesn't work. More of a how it should rather than how it is. Do what I did: don't copy the example loco, but deconstruct it using the bin files: convert to xml, print and digest. With valuable help from Kevin, absolutely n...

Re: Bogies and engine Alignment
You should have asked, saved yourself some grief: http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=219&t=78412 I can't get the rear pony truck to behave though. I've been trying for a couple of weeks now. The positioning of the pivot, any offsets etc. etc. has some very strange effects: limiting the spe...

Re: A320 / Crosswind
Had a scary one a few years back in a Manx Airways ATP into Ronalsdway. It's worrying when you can look out your window from your seat and see straight down the runway you're about to land on... I'd swear he landed on one wheel before he pulled it back straight and put the rest down: the landing was...

Re: SPAM Can Problems
Try putting more wheels on the front and rear bogies: if you run the default black 5 and 7F .bin files through serz.exe and have a look at the resultant .xml , you'll see a few extra axles in there! That was the only way I could get my 2-4-2 radial tank to appear in game: ended up as a 4-8-4 ! The e...

Re: Creating Blue prints
Hah! Given up for now, as I'm a modeller, not a physics/code wrangler. I gibber after a while and I swear I'm starting to dream in .xml. I'll go back to it when I've got the inclination. I use the previewer because it gave a good indication that things were OK, or at least it did until I started mes...
