I thought this type of signalling was better known as "track circuit block" Moving block signalling is very different to TCB. If you imagine a 'safe' zone either side of each train, I don't know how large, it probably depends on the stock. Computers won't allow 2 trains zones to overlap which ensur...

shunter would dream of pushing against them.
Quite right. That's not what they are there for after all! Trains are supposed to stop 6' short of the stops. Sometimes however this doesn't happen.

The Freightliner Heavyhaul siding at Dagenham Dock reguarly has wagons pushed right onto the stops.

I've seen trains hit buffers made of rail & wood at more than 5mph. They stood up to the impact quite well.

A set at Southend Central were hit at about 7mph. They lasted better than the track they were on :)

well done. but underground drivers r where da failed overground drivers go.
Hardly. You'll find the vast majority of overground drivers have a lot of respect for the underground guys.

I'd be buggered if I'd want to do it. Tunnels, 2 aspect signals and no AWS? Not for me!

A choice to be a passenger that can walk into a station and get on a train
Why do people think this is so important? For me people would be one of those "nice to have" things.

I imagine if crow decides there should be a strike, there will be one. It's not Crow's decision to make. General rule on reading things in the media about trade unions. They are either outright lies, or selected truths. If there is a strike it comes from the ground up. All the general sec does is t...

Not much good for air pipes ;)

It's a bit sad that they made a joke of it, the driver needs to be congratulated for thinking of it... Maybe he's a Thomas fan?

Merge all the fantastic routes we have to allow a journey from say Exeter to Edinburgh?
I don't think it'll be possible with scenery, but it'd be great if it was!
