Yep - in 3d mode, from the side, not in orthographic side on mode! Here's the texture I'm trying to apply: http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic.php/22363/texturing-issue2.jpg I've tried with every mode - same result. Oddly enough if I use the paint tool over many faces it almost works - but not o...

Very useful Colour Swatch site

I was searching for 'saxony green' (NER loco colour) and came up with this site:

seems pretty useful if you know the name of the colour you're after! Not sure how accurate the namings are - does anyone else know if they are about right?

Cheers

Yes - they are all separate objects. I've tried again but whatever angle I try from, it's as if as you say I've applied it from the front and it wraps around. What I ideally want to do is apply looking as if top-down but even doing it from this angle produces the exact same result. The fill operatio...

ok - here's the problem - I am trying to apply the texture to the top of the 'mud guard?' it applies vertically, not horizontally even though the texture is horizontal. Editing using 'standard' coordinates mode, using fill operation. (thanks for explanation of this - I will go back and re-texture my...

Is that the 'fill' tool or the 'paint' tool?

ps - do you think the colour match is better? I took it from OS Nock's encyclopaedia of British steam locos (illustrated with simply hundreds of locos).

Latest progress - mainly texture changes - I found a better colour match and will now be using this from now on. As can be seen from the wheelcovers? (no idea what the technical term is) I am having some texturing issues - no matter what method I use for uv map / paint tool in Canvas, I cannot get t...

is that bored or boring? or both!!

Why rotating by one degree? Surely you could cover the wheel in about 6 passes of say 60 degrees?

You basically have two options in my opinion: Model the curve in detail by extruding and shifting the points to form the curve... or model it using transparency. I'd go for the latter. (the same technique as for wheels, only this time you 'cut' out the corner of the cab roof using transparency) No d...

Pre-Grouping NER Raven S3 4-6-0

Hi all Based on Decapod's comments in my previous topic, I opted to start building some NER Pre-Grouping locos - the best plans I could lay my hands on were for the S3 4-6-0. (though I am missing some detailed front-on plans if anyone has any!) A picture speaks a thousand words so here's a screensho...

The web is full of great tutorials on creating metallic textures - including rust - this is mainly done by combinations of 'noise' 'motion blur' 'gaussian blur' and lighting effects. Here are two different ways to produce rust: They are for Photoshop, but the techniques should apply in PSP. http://w...

Just to confirm for people reading this, my problem was an error in the original position of the object - and not in the Rod Animator!

Cheers Paul for sorting this for me
