Back in the dark ages (well, early seventies a young up and coming comedian released a rather bad single called "funky moped" Despite the terribleness of the record it reached the top of the charts (or somewhere near at least) The reason for its success was that the above version of the magic rounda...

Does anyone remember the British Rail advert from some years ago,(early eighties I think) that began with the oh so serious anouncement: "Just after the start of the twenty first century the worlds oil will run out" acompanied by shots of what was then the latest electric trains. Luckily it seems th...

For me the biggest weakness of MSTS (within the default game itself) are the awful sounds. Part of the problem is due to American railroad sounds being used as defaults throughout the game and this upgrade has really made a huge difference. Would it be possible to do a similar "fix" to the passenger...

I have got to agree with Alister. I have never been a "gamer" but college work aside, my computer has been used for little else in the last year. On top of that the railfan in me has been well and truly re-awakened. To be fair to computer active they did say that it was a good game. My criticism of ...

I just tried the jet sled out. it is great fun, phenominally fast and the kids (of all ages) will love it. It really needs sound files though, or do 777's really sound just like a couple of GP38's. I rather like the US railcar with the two jet engines bolted to the roof. There is something wonderful...

Dodgy magazine review
Have any of you purchased the current issue of Computer Active Magazine? Inside they have a feature on simulators and their use as teaching and training aids. After waxing lyrical about flightsim and a racecar game they then moved on to Train Simulator. For the purposes of the test they allegedly as...

I was passionate about trains as a kid but for nearly twenty years I ate breathed, slept and farted motorbikes(specifically 70,s kawasaki's) Maybe that made me a black leather anorak. I only became PC literate about 18 months ago but if you like trains as a child you will always like trains an...

I suppose what we diesel fans are experiencing at present is not dissimilar to how steam enthusiasts felt in the late sixties. It must have been even worse for them because who at that time would have forseen the growth of the railway preservation scene and I guess they really saw it as the end. The...

I have installed the route and put together an activity for it. It is a lovely piece of work and I have had no problems(Don't have x tracks). To change the subject slightly I really need some shipping container wagons for activities and AI trains but cannot find any here. Did I just overlook the rel...

MSTS Defining moments.
As Ian has pointed out in another post, MSTS is a year old this month. What was peoples best/worst Trainsim moment or memory of the last year. For me It had to be charging up and down the S and C in Tim Booths 47xxx and the GWR repaints. the first non-default UK stock thinking "yes, THIS is what I p...

I think that the reveiws are one of the best services that this site provides, both to consumers and to the develpers of commercial add ons. Since a good review here must be worth a number of sales the reviews can only be good for developing the quality of payware. I think that you are getting them ...
