Re: Route Riter Error
Hi David, Not meaning to muddy the waters, but I had this problem when I installed RR on my W7 system. I think at that time JRE7 was the latest model. I tried all of the 'tricks' i.e. copying files etc to no avail. I finally got it working, by completely removing Java including using a cleaner to re...

Re: FlyTo MSTS
I have tried resizing the RE window using the registry fix in the past, but the change has never stuck. Restart RE or reload the route and it is back to the default postage stamp. I have just tried MSTS-Scrz and have the same problem. At least with this program it is quite simple to run the file fr...

Hi Geoff. From http://www.britishrailways.info/ Driver’s position in steam locomotives: Before the grouping of 1923, the cab layout was such that the right-hand side of the cab was the driving position for most companies. The G. & S.W.R. latterly adopted left-hand drive which was then standard for t...

Re: Some problems in activities with AI trains headlights off
Hi, I used to get something similar on Dorset Coast when leaving Waterloo with signals operating correctly but not showing a colour. BIn may extend the number of lights that can be shown on a tile, but it won't extend the computers resources to show all of those lights. I would guess the number of s...

Hi, For all of MSTS foibles, surely Microsoft deserves a little praise :). If they hadn't started it, us die-hards wouldn't still be getting enjoyment 12 years later and still pushing MSTS to do things not imagined at its inception. In some ways, I see their abandonment of the sim as a blessing in d...

Re: HS4000 Kestrel and other diesel prototypes.
Hi, HI Aiden - I sorted it out in the end, I didn't bother to post as nobody else had. It's the old 'Dynamic Shadows' problem I've found with a very small number of add-on locos, turn this off in the advanced settings and it should be alright Hope it works for you; let me know Roger Just ticked the ...

Re: If there was an MSTS Hall of Fame...
Refman (Reg Furniss), not often seen or heard of any more. Locos, routes, and scenic models. In the early days of my route building and without TSM to fall back on, his scenic models (which he offered to the community freely and without restriction) provided me with an abundance of objects to fill a...

Hi Niall,
One way is to open the route in the 'Route Geometry Extractor'.
Mouse over the tiles and it will give the world tile reference and the tile reference.
You will need to know what World tile you are looking for.
Cheers

Re: adding unreferenced shape files to .ref file
OK, thanks, that's very helpful to know. I'm building up the Joy/Pascoe GWR route for my own benefit - how selfish ! Good Luck. That was the route I chose to cut my teeth on working out how RE worked. Probably spent 2 years populating the Paddington - Bristol - Plymouth - Penzance part of the route...

Unfortunately as you can't edit a post on this site after a certain period,

Re: Passing Loops
Hi Richard, Just had a go and I can't see a problem. In AE I started the path from before the tcr r r 250, travelled along the left loop past the tcr l 250 and then reversed back to the start point using the right loop. All point blades worked fine. In AE the path does show the little green discs wi...

Re: Smoke rises through roof.
Hi Danny, Hope this explains my method. Wire frame is the bridge set as a terrain object. Road is the road. The smoke blocker (black) is hidden just under the road but above the bridge roof and invisible in a normal view. It was on the S & D when I started using these, but i'm pretty sure I found th...
