Thanks for the answer. I thought that would be the case, but I thought I'd better post about it just in case someone had found a solution whilst I wasn't looking!

SPAD's in activties

I have just had a SPAD in an activity where I was driving 2 class 50's, nearly finished the activity and then just drifted by the red by a few yards, and suddenly activity over! Is there any way (apart from stopping in time) to stop this? The activity was set in the 1980's and I know a few drivers w...

Well said Kevin - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'd rather go on and HST (20+years old) or class 91 + mk4's (10years) rather than a cramped voyager (few months old?) anyday. If being packed in like sardines into a can is the future for rail travel, then you can keep it.

In my experience of watching p-way gangs (they are sometimes lurking about at Colton junction when I happen to be passing by) one of them does some variety of work whilst the rest watch him, there is of the statutary look-out. They all seem to wear jeans and T-Shirt and of course vis-vests. This vir...

Bearing in mind I do not have much knowhow of electric locos, I think the 87 has a tap changer where the throttle is not like a 'normal' throttle. The current going to the traction motors is displayed on the fours upright dials on the extreme right. The tap changer allows the driver to control the c...

Yes, very sad place now Swindon - especially if you went there in it's heyday( I didn't but I can only imaging what it was like) - pulling some of it down and turning the rest into a shopping outlet must be a crime! :drinking:

On the subject of becoming a train driver, did anyone see the article in RAIL about it? Also, I am always rather suspect of people going into uch a job just for the pay, I believe that you should actually want to be a train driver, then you will be able to give the job the commitment it needs. e.g. ...

I agree with that about VT, but can I say that GNER trains that leave KingsX at around 8:30 are not exactly sparesly populated either! I was particularly annoyed to the treatment of an elderly couple who were going from York to Edinburgh, first of all the tannoy at York directed them to the wrong pl...
