trainsimfiles.com or .net or .co.uk used to be the home of the UK train sim community, but had to close down before last Xmas, and uktrainsim took up the reins and has grown from there. Unfortunately some of the models that were on trainsimfiles never reappeared.

Just to stress that all the data files used by MSTS are UNICODE format, so Notepad will corrupt them on most versions of Windoze.

There are some tech docs hidden away on CD1 of MSTS, one of which explains a lot of the entries in the .wag and .eng files.

Yep, someone did a repaint and they were on trainsimfiles, but not sure what happened to them.

MSTS does not always like installing from DVD drives. Have you tried installing from your other drive?

Here is how it should be done, and Gladstone has a white roof, but then so did all the LBSCR locomotives.

I've downloaded the Albula line and loco from msts.nl, but can you point me at more Rhb rolling stock please?

Sorry, I picked it up without any problems. Finding the readme files was tricky, and you need to read them a few times as the installation is 'involved', but it does work.

One of the Mk1 carriages of a 4-Cep unit still running has just had its 50th birthday.

The 1500V DC locos on the Woodhead route used to have both pantographs up, from what I have seen in photos, but the 25kV AC locos only use one.

Thanks for your knowledgeable input, and glad to see you look in on here. I have only been modelling for less than a year, and, as with my real modelling, it is inspiration from seeing what the accomplished modellers can do that keeps me trying. I did suspect that poly count was not the complete ans...
