Cheers, I solved it by splitting the inner and outer faces and reducing the inner faces by 0.9999.

Re: Specular problem
I still can't get rid of that weird effect on the cab, It has happened to a couple of other models too. I have tried deleting the outside faces and inside faces but I can't find any extra polys, any other ideas?

Re: Hitting the wall, a modeler's nightmare?
I have this from time to time, and normally it is caused by frustration at myself for not being able to do something. I often start a new project to give myself a break, so currently I have 6 unfinished locomotive projects! Sometimes just going away for an hour and having pint before returning is en...

Re: Austrian Narrow Gauge
Thanks mate, here's a more panned out render of the inside, Still quite a few controls to add, but I think the textures if I do a good job should bring all the elements together and make it look "right". http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/2373/render1099004.jpg I plan to use a 2048 x 2048 texture for ...

Re: Austrian Narrow Gauge
Another update on the locomotive model, I still need to detail the roof and add a few bits around the locomotive. I have put the interior in, as you can see the traction motors and flywheels through the side windows. I still need to put in a low poly cab and a the back wall of the cab. http://img4.i...

Re: Austrian Narrow Gauge
Quick update, render isn't as sharp as the last as I rendered with POV in Canvas because I'm lazy

Re: Invisible Track
Tried to get the pivot as close as I can to correct location, back to being able to lay track but it is still invisible. I think I may give up for this evening, spent the last hour and half trying to get it to appear with no result. Will go back to making some scenic items as these are the only thin...

Re: Austrian Narrow Gauge
If you can point me to a tutorial on creating a shadow I'll most certainly do it, I too love these machines, my favorite electric locomotive!

Re: Invisible Track
did you read the developer documents on creating track? i followed them closely and got some track made and working in no time. I have indeed, are you using 3DC or MAX? I have worked very carefully following the documents and Bremen's tutorial, I'm sure it's something I am doing wrong in Canvas. Re...

Re: Austrian Narrow Gauge
Cheers for the help Bremen. I started building the 1099 today, I have the basic shape, still in standard canvas materials and with only one bogie!

Re: Invisible Track
Ok, followed your instructions, new problem, RS will crash when I try to lay the track. In 3DC correct shader, custom RS name "Track" and single object extruded from a profile (4m long), object pivot at 0,0,0 at rail height. What am I doing wrong now? http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/4726/tracki.j...
