Hi all,
I would just like to ask what on earth are invisible platforms for? I did put one in once by mistake for a normal platform but deleted it straight away. I've just never sussed why one would want an invisible one.
regards Ted.

Re: Platform Markers etc, I think I've sussed it!
Hi people, I have created a simple scenario and successfully got a freight train to wait in a goods loop for my driven passenger train to overtake it! My first attempt failed as the loop was too short (just a bit longer than a platform's length), and the Despatcher signalled the freight train straig...

Re: class 66 and 08 shunter
When I download anything, so far all freeware, I always 'save' the zip file, and then install it manually into RS. I also make a copy of the zip file and save it onto a memory stick straight away. I make a habit of saving the Assets and Contents folders onto DVD regularly. Should anything catastroph...

Hi, I don't usually have a problem adding stops to a passenger train, but I do have a problem getting a list of stations to come up when I click on the magnifing glass icon! I have always had to 'fly' out to the actual station and click on the actual Platform Marker. That's okay in a short route, bu...

Re: Can anyone tempt me back??
Everyone has a view, yes indeed. My view, for what it's worth: I never play games on my computer, I have no interest in them - boring! I do not regard Rail Sim or MSTS as 'games', to me they are Virtual Railways! If they were games everyone would be wanting AI trains to have conflicting paths so tha...

Re: Platform Markers etc, I think I've sussed it!
Hi Sly, No I'm not saying anything with 100% certainty. I'm trying to establish a few 'rules' for myself to make things work as well as I can 'first time'! I certainly could not get that parcels train to go from the Freight track onto the Main Line track by giving it a Stop At instruction at the Pla...

Re: Switching Junctions
Hi, I think the G key will only work with Manual points, those with a lever alongside. I change all my points in Free Roam by pressing 9 and using the map. Look your loco in red and the blue line leading from it. Put your cursor onto the blue circle over the point you want to change then press the s...

Re: Platform Markers etc, I think I've sussed it!
Hi dk, When I saw that you had managed to get a freight train to run down a passenger line I thought I'd try to do the same. I had several goes at it but without success. Even when I added a Destination Marker to the platform at my first station and chose that as a route indicator the Despatcher rej...

Re: Really simple question I can't figure out about saving route
When I have created a new route I have found that the co-ordinates always go back to 0.00000 and 0.00000 at the starting position. Also if you key in the co-ordinates to jump to another location you have to be careful that you include a minus in some of them or delete the minus in others else you la...

Re: Platform Markers etc, I think I've sussed it!
I know what you mean, but I have come to the conclusion that RS uses names of tracks and markers etc just for its own convenient way of naming them, not necessarily relating those names it uses to real life railway terms. I was quite a while trying to work out how I would use a Destination Marker fo...

Platform Markers etc, I think I've sussed it!
Hi Guys, Creating Scenarios. Are you struggling to get those AI trains to go where you want them to? I think I've sussed it! At least I'm getting there anyway. Here's what I think are the basic principles. Number 1: Think Simple and Straight Forward. Do NOT think complicated. Number 2: Lay your trac...

Hi there, Choose your route and let it load up. When the route appears on your screen, look around for a loco, zoom down towards that loco with the arrow keys, point your cursor onto it, left click, then press 1 and you will be in the cab. (You do'nt select your loco before loading up the route). Th...

Hi Shane, thanks from me also for that advice on Markers. I have seperated my route into passenger and freight tracks and have used Platform markers for the passenger tracks, but Siding markers on the freight tracks. Would you recommend me to use Platform markers for the freight tracks as well, as I...

Re: Buffer stops
Hi, Yes I have created a three-way point doing exactly what the video said. However, I have on occassions had to make several attempts at creating a crossover when using the crossover tool and also when simply creating two seperate points to form a crossover. This seems to happen when the geometry i...

Re: Destination Markers - Purpose & Placing.
Many thanks for those remarks. I have done three restarts so far on my new route to correct things on the trackwork that I had made a wrong assumtion about, so advice gained from this forum is greatly valued. I will leave out destination markers for now, and will hold them in reserve to try out if I...
