Re: Train Simulator 2013

No they do not want to sell you old routes back. If you have them now you will keep them. They are selling them to new users who have not already got them but do want them.

Re: User created content post TS2013

It seems to me that the only thing being dropped is the old default routes themselves, i.e. the actual trackplan and terrain data. All the assets from those routes will still be available free of charge to newcomers, if those newcomers wish to download them as a seperate free package. There are so m...

Re: Train Simulator 2013

Back up Brandon!! You never know when something is going to mess up your computer or Railworks installation. Be independent of Steam/RS.com - have at least one backup preferably on a USB hard drive, but on another drive of your computer will do. If you simply do a copy and paste of the entire Steam ...

Re: User created content post TS2013

There seems to be an assumption that all new users will want to have absolutely every add-on that has been available since Rail Simulator was originally launched. Perhaps they will be more discriminating than that. Would a newcomer really want to run Bath Templecombe after experiencing one of the la...

Re: class 150 3 car

I remember the Kentish Town Barking line when they used any old gash first generation DMU's to run the service. Parts of Cravens units, parts of suburban door-to-each compartment units, anything that was going, all mixed together any old way. I once travelled in a four car set that was composed comp...

'Heyup Grandad, do you remember 9/20?'
'Now then son, don't go upsetting Grandad like that - we don't mention 9/20 in this house!'
'Why what happened?'
'You're too young to understand son. We'll talk about it when you're older...'

Re: Railworks not to be called Railworks anymore.

Just a further thought on this: the term Train Simulator is surely a generic term for all of them, MSTS, Trainz, Rail Simulator, Railworks, etc., etc. An individual name is really required if you need to get support (to identify the creator) or help from other users (I don't understand your question...

Re: Railworks not to be called Railworks anymore.

What's important about a name? An association in the mind with something. I have always disliked Tri-ang taking over the name Hornby. Hornby was a name associated with quality, although in the end it was the higher price of that quality which proved its undoing (being late in going to two-rail was a...

Re: Am I missing something? (Grey box)

I take it that you have created the two tracks of the loop by specifying 2 in the options box, and laying a length of 'double track' in one go. Place your cursor over the two tracks and make sure they are on the level (zero gradient) or make a note of the gradient. The points for the crossover will ...

You will find that Windows does refuse to expand a perfectly good .zip file sometimes. Try an alternative like 7-zip, and you should be ok.

Re: Time for a Positive 'Railworks Is Great' thread!!

I have four installations of Rail Simulator and one of Railworks which I can only run with TSX off, and I am on RS every day of the week. And I don't apologise for it. So I'm not an apologist, whatever one of those is. I couldn't find the word in my Concise Oxford Dictionary anyway, but I did find j...

Yes, please let us know Jem. There are lots of new users, and some of us old ones, who haven't yet got to know everything about RW!
This forum is the one place I've learnt the most from.

Re: Abandoned looking Track

Have a look on the Railworksamerica(dot)com site, or trainsim(dot)com site. 'Great Northerner' used to have a set of older looking tracks available as freeware on one (or both) of those two sites.

Re: Small (but not common) problem...

Hi Jim, I am still using Rail Simulator. When I am in the route editor, and moving around to another location, I sometimes unintentionally press the right mouse button. This sends me whizzing along at an uncontrollable high speed and I have the devil of a job stopping it! In fact I don't know quite ...

Re: world must be ending (cab forward and ge44 released)

We used to hear that at Liverpool Street on the old GER steam locos (N7s etc.), on the suburban trains to Chingford, Enfield etc. To me a lovely sound.
