Re: Created some tracks, lots of headaches

Hi Raildumper Well for a start they are a very nice set of tracks with 3d slepers deffo a thumbs up. As for your overlapping problem: I experienced that unless you make each track section in max a length of 4m exactly it overlaps and causes gaps in the texture. My max track example: http://img108.im...

Re: Reskin

All RailSimulator Image Files Need To Be powers of 4.

E.g. 128x128 pixles minimum
256x256 pixles
512x512 pixles
1,024x1,024 pixles

If the image your exporting is not one of these sizes the editor will not allow it.

Re: Narrow Gauge Hunslets

Update on this thread: Dolbadarn is having her texture unwrapped and splashed on, so far 80% of the model unwrapped but only block colour applied and no detail at this stage, I could post a render of her but she looks vulgar in bright red at the moment, I have played with the animation of the rods t...

Re: model exports but not useable

Either that or the track gauge value you have entered in the bogie blueprint is slightly different from that of the track you are placing the flatbed on.

Re: Get a simple wagon into RS - Pictorial Tutorial

Hi engin87, I also use 3DS Max Version 9 and the Art Plugins work fine. Firstly just to check a few things: 1. Is max registered - (30 day trial copys will not alow exporting to .igs format) 2. Have you installed upto service pack 2 for Max9 (Avaliable from Autodesk website) 3. Have you put the corr...

Re: Narrow Gauge Hunslets

Sorry Llew my mistake from your thumbnail pic it looked like the rear of a 0-4-0VB De Winton or thats what I assumed. The Winifred you want is the Hunslet without the cab - shouldn't be too hard for me to clone and change my existing model to make one of these for you but I would need some shots off...

Re: Narrow Gauge Hunslets

Hiya again llew - having had a half day at sixth form yesterday I scoured the internet for referance material and stumbled across plans for the De Winton 0-4-0VB "Idris" I have already started modelling her in max but there isnt much to show as I only got about 1 hour in and I was having to convert ...

Re: Narrow Gauge Hunslets

Nice to hear she'll have her home route to run on once released, as for Winifred I might consider doing as my next model if enough referance material can be collected, narrow gauge fever has hit me, plus it depends how Dolbadarn goes, she is my first loco that's ever got this far through the modelli...

Re: Narrow Gauge Hunslets

Yup well done it's a Dolbadarn and as for other variations there are hundreds, they've been overhauled and changed so much over the years I can't find any 2 hunslets that are the exact same. :D Endless fun might turn into endless frustration but 8i'm pleased so far with the model. :P

Re: Narrow Gauge Hunslets

Thanks for confirming the 1 bogie 2 axle job Kev - I was wondering why it was throwing wobblies when exporting, I was hoping to run it with your stock for the corris railway, - could you possibly give me me some info on the couplers - i.e. height.

Sorry more questions. :D

Re: Narrow Gauge Hunslets

You've converted your Trainz model I see... ah well i'll keep going with this one anyway - while im here I was looking at the bogie blueprint for your corris rly loco - am I right in thinking that you have 1 bogie for the 2 axles - i've seen somewhere on the forum that each bogie needs at least 2 ax...

Narrow Gauge Hunslets

Many of these littleu’ns have been produced by Hunslet Engine Co. Ltd. of Leeds for over a centaury being used mainly for mines but many have survived into preservation and can be found in most parts of the country. The below shots are actually of the slightly larger “Port” class which are very simi...

Re: Using DEMs and Google Earth Tutorial

Hi all I'm having problems with my OS decals, whenever I raised or lowered the terrain so that it was not a the same level under my decals it made them distort particually around the edges so I flattened the terrin out again but there are now square holes in my decals where the earth shows and since...
