A problem thats been fixed

One thing with MSTS that really drove me to distraction was that train, speeds distance between stations and the times did not compute. It appeared MSTS calculated the distance the vehicle traveled incorrectly. This is certainly not the case with this current release. VERY GOOD, one can now run to a...

Re: OR’s ‘true to life’ operational experience?

PS, If you want to have a look at some good 3d modeling of an object have a look through the "search for Sydney" web site. The HMAS Sydney being a naval vessel sunk by a german raider off the West Australian coast during the 2nd world war. I assume someone (RAN probably) have done a 3D model of the ...

Re: OR’s ‘true to life’ operational experience?

Your replies have given much food for thought. Now I am not being pessimistic here (I think). What I am interested is accurate "physics" and train operation. What I would like to be able to do is to use the sim to find out why things are done in a certain way in the real world. I first got MSTS beca...

Re: OR’s ‘true to life’ operational experience?

A train sim of course does mean different things to different people but. I am NOT saying high detail and beautifull rolling stock and scenery is bad but it is the order of the priority's. This being accuracy of physics. accuracy of operation then high detail IF there is CPU power spare. It is possi...

Re: OR’s ‘true to life’ operational experience?

Just a bit of a comment, This person much prefers correct operations, train handling, "physics" and the route being accurate rather than high detail (these are not the same thing). High poly counts and real fancy multilayer texturing (eye candy) do not grab me at all. As some one posted sometime bac...

Re: A question of screen resolutions

On very high detail sections it was a little jerky but the frame rate was way up on what MSTS did in a similiar spot. The latter route was tried with an Ansitropic and Antialiasing figures of X4. Do you wish for any tests to be done??? Will be happy to do them. Lindsay Did you get a chance to see i...

Re: A question of screen resolutions

Thanks 'Zlindku'. Your notees in this thread are most interesting - as I am just in the process of speccing up a new PC, and from what I see it is looking pretty close to what you have. I am planning to use a i5-750 etc, but had been looking at the NVidia gt250 graphics card. - otherwise pretty muc...

Re: A question of screen resolutions

That worked fine, the performance at 2560x1600 is excellent (understatement). I found for the first half hour I was getting a good touch of vertigo on some of the curves in the hills. On very high detail sections it was a little jerky but the frame rate was way up on what MSTS did in a similiar spot....

Re: A question of screen resolutions

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....................... I got a bite, I am not trying to be smart or anything here. The reason for my previous post is to try and get someone to say something. It is in fact an example of well proven interrogation technique. One of the main benifits of open source is that if you d...

A question of screen resolutions

I have a system here that has a Samsung 305T monitor connected to it this machine currently does not have Windows installed on it. Do the OR developers know if OR supports 2560x1600 or probably more correctly does the XNA framework support such modes. If there is a good likely hood that such is the ...
