Re: Safe?
I am not ultra familiar with trainstore but I believe it removes all items from the msts disrectory except the ones selected, now OpenRails gets all routes and rolling stock from the main MSTS directrory as indicated in the windows registery. So this would indicate everyyhing will need to be unstore...

Re: Version 360, 2 core V 4 core CPU
There are other factors that have to be taken into consideration in addition to the resolution. The amount of anti-aliasing filtering and type of anti-aliasing filtering (example, multi-sampling, super sampling) have just as much if not more of an impact on performance then the higher resolution. A...

Re: September 17 AFTER release discussion
While agreeing with Lindsay about being demanding, could anyone produce a hack to run MSTS RE in higher resolution full screen? I believe there is a very early hack for that.......try looking on the steam4me site. Cheers Bazza The info concerned is at http://msts.steam4me.net/tutorials/index.html#r...

Re: September 17 AFTER release discussion
More to the point, the MSTS route editor is now unusable at least on my hardware, so in order to produce any new content rather than recycle 6 or 7 year old routes, OR is going to need a world editor sooner rather than later... I tend to agree about the route editor (and the other tools) but for a ...

Re: Version 360, 2 core V 4 core CPU
I am very disappointed in the GTX 460 the card is quite slow (on XP anyway). Searching on the web I have found I am not the only one that has found this out. I've used the GTX 480 on Windows XP/SP2 64-bit and performance was definitely not a problem, performance was actually very good. The problem ...

Re: Version 360, 2 core V 4 core CPU
It would be interesting if any one else had any similiar tests to back the above up. I've tested OpenRails v128 performance on five different machines ranging from a very low end Pentium 4 based machine to the highest end hex core i7 980X base machine with Core 2 dual and quad core setups along wit...

Re: September 17 AFTER release discussion
It may be worth mentioning for everyone giving this a try to read the file "SoftDocs.pdf" that comes with V360 this explains every question (nearly) that has come up so far.

Re: September 17 AFTER release discussion
Cabview quite good considering the image is only 1024x768 edges smooth. Very good work OpenRails Lindsay Lindsay, Open Rails is not limited to 1024 x 768 graphic sizes for cab view. We've tested up to 1024 x 1024 (and we believe 2048 will also work) for higher resolution views without stretching on...

Re: September 17 AFTER release discussion
Went on to the OR web site an hour ago and found release V360 was there. Downloaded it unziped into the early versions directory as per install instructions, no problems at all. Works great, VERY impressed. OR has done a nice job I must say. Cabview quite good considering the image is only 1024x768 ...

Re: September 17 AFTER release discussion
Lindsay At the present time, Open Rails physics calculates resistance based on partial real world physics: gravity, mass and rolling resistance. This is calculated individually for each car in the train. The cars are summed up as a single unit for faster calculation by the program. Physics calculat...

Re: September 17 AFTER release discussion
Firstly, no need to apologise for a particular interest in railways, there us a vast scope for interest and each will have his own preferences. But a simulator can only go so far one can only make the best of what is availible and so far OR is looking very good. I notice a physics discussion has bee...

Re: Next release of Open Rails will take place on September 17
On 13 Sep 2010 18:20 waltercronkiln said, "•Proper calculation of distance for accurate timetable operations" I checked this in the first release and I found on 3 separate routes the distances worked out in OR to be within an accuracy of 1.4 %. This is WWWWWAAAAAAAAYYYYYY better than the variable 16...
