I will be there on Sunday and in full-on photography mode :D I'm planning on starting at Hythe and covering the entire line to capture everything that will be happening.

It's just a shame that I will be straight of a night shift on Sunday morning and can't actually participate as a staff member :(

Festival Of Seaside Railways Photos

Hi folks, I've uploaded a few pics from Sunday morning which was cold, wet and downright miserable. They haven't come out as well as I would've liked due to the incessant rain but such is life. If you look really hard you can see Tim in some of them 8) As always any thoughts on technique are always ...

I can strongly recommend this to everybody. The RH&DR is a fascinating place and this DVD is well worth the money. Green Goddess was one of the two original locomotives ordered for the railway in 1924 and is a stunning piece of engineering. It stands as the most iconic locomotive due to its long his...

Hi JR, I can highly recommend shooting in RAW. It has become a way of life for me and because there is no in-camera processing it allows you to fine tune your shot with a decent RAW editor. I've lost track of the number of photographs that could've been ruined and I managed to recover... It's often ...

Next time I visit my folks up in Preston I will dig out my pictures of Samson at the Liverpool Garden Festival in 1984... I was of course a small boy at the time (I was 9). They had the R&ER Jubilee DMU set there as well and as far as I remember River Irt. I think Romney sent Black Prince. All I rea...

I have to admit... I'm pretty lucky having an understanding wife as well... She was also partially responsible but even weirder than that is that she actively encourages it :D I think she knows how much I am really enjoying it. I am down again on Thur Feb 8th and then Sat Feb 17th and might sneak do...

Hi JR, and thanks for the welcome :) I will look forward to meeting you when you next make it down. I have committed to doing at least one day on every set of my days off (I work 6 on and 4 off) so I tend to be around at all sorts of unusual times. So far everybody I have met has been really nice an...
