Ok, lets have a REALITY check - look at the date, at the time of posting it's the 7 June 2003, yes, the 21st Century is here. So, what we need are 21st century trains to get a 21st century railway. Voyagers are part of that, the performance of a Voyager is exceptional, better than a HST. Midland Mai...

I'd expect EWS to buy 'em and use them for fast overnight goods delivery themselves, though not for mail. They're just going to have to find even more alternative uses for the 67s now! Luke - GNER T-Birds. And EWS say they're starting their own 125mph ECML Parcels services sometime later this year,...

Not quite the same, but you can still go on 'virtual tours' of these stations, a few links time I feel: http://www.starfury.demon.co.uk/uground/ http://www.abandonedstations.co.uk/ http://www.urbanadventure.org/transit/t_london.htm Hope this sheds light at the end of the tunnel... On second thoughts...

Yet another preventable accident. Had ATP been fitted to the signals, or even TPWS-type systems been fitted, this wouldn't have happened. But it also questions the media view on European railways. 'Five accidents in five years' - and I recall so far this year there being a number of accidents involv...

It is outrageous, this decision calls into question the Royal Mail's environmental policy more than anything else. I wonder how RM will do in performance terms in a year or so's time. If EWS's own operations are vastly better in reliability than RM's road and air, then I can see the RM's bosses goin...

'Station Pilots' are basically engines used to shunt empty coaches from/to platforms in stations. The nearest US term is 'Terminal Switcher' - which sounds like some kind of illness - but I'm not sure of any general Euro-term for them. Station Pilots keep the stations going by getting rid of empty s...

The Class 89 Built by Brush, Loughborough, c. 1985 A 6000hp Co-Co 25kV Electric capable of 125mph (thereby, IMO, making it the fastest electric locomotive in the UK*) Designed for the East Coast Main Line, as a rival to the BREL/GEC Class 91 (then known as the 'Electra'). Ultimately, the 91 won, pro...

Neat container ships, I see you're using only 20' ISO boxes. Any chance of some special effects, like damaged containers (I have seen some photos of seriously wrecked boxes), or even the typical: "Cap'n, the boats on fire!" "Then put the hazardous boxes over the stern!" (For those not familiar with ...

TGV v 377
I didn't say that. You'd have to go up to a 377 and a TGV and compare coupler heights (with a tape measure). If they are the same, which I doubt, then it would be possible. Of course if it is, it may even be possible to couple a Voyager or Pendolino, or, for that matter, a 175/180. But somehow I fea...

but if they are taking time to paint their stock into barbie livery why are the new 57's going to be painted green.....? To avoid having to repaint the Sleepers into Barbie. Not that it will matter, since they only run at night anyway. And, IMO, Barbie would not look well on a Super-Duff, I like th...

i asked b4 about if the south central (southern railway) turbostas were gonna have delner couplers and i was told no as it is not right as the turbostars have to be compatable with the rest of the fleet.......if this is the case why did south central order 377's with delners and retrofit delener co...

Stupid
As if a 'trainspotter' is a threat to National Security? Ok, whats the typical demographics of rail enthusiasts? Mainly white, generally either kids or more elderly, nearly always male, and generally identifiable as rail enthusiasts. So, what kind of terrorist goes around looking like a train spotte...
