Seems like a bad day today. Doesn't say if the line has reopened (at 15:30), although NatRail says a fatality has been found just north of Retford, line to be cleared at 15:40. Another person has been hurt/killed (doesn't say) Tamworth-Derby. Why are two persons on the tracks? Track workers? Trespas...

Supposedly by 2007 is the expected date, although I think it's still at the planning stage. Dunno when they're going for a TWA.

I didn't know about the Midland's line to Mangotsfield, looking at Multimap I can see where it is, interesting. Will have to look for this next time in Bristol.

No, they'd either stop, or end up doing a back/fore shuffling motion at 50hz. Must have messed the track circuits up mightily...

Connex did not lose the SC franchise, they sold it to GoVia, then I don't believe they bidded for the new franchise, it was a one-horse race anyway. I believe the new South Eastern franchise is due to start in 2007, and will incorperate the CTRL Domestics (so, all new timetable then). As a result, I...

A few points: The Serco/NR MkII test coaches are modified and specially maintained to do 125, and are Through-Jumpered, to run with Class 43s in Push-Pull. All stock in the formation must have HST Push-Pull cables for both 43s to be running. The exception to this was, of course, the HST-DVTs (modifi...

Yes, Temple Meads - Filton Jn was four track, ripped up and somewhat realigned to allow things to go faster down the bank, top speed 75 IIRC, and having used Abbey Wood, certainly Voyagers fly through there. Four-track will return! The Bristol Metro/Tram is due to alignment share up to just south of...

BR would probably not have got much new stuff: WCML - perhaps by now a few IC225s, limited to 110mph (no tilt) for top-link, either that or Nightstar stock converted for day coaches (replace Mk2s). East Coast, maybe Regional E*s, like now. No new cross-country trains, except some displaced HSTs. Gre...

Virgin/Eurostar Regional link services. They used to run from Manchester IIRC to Waterloo, via WCML to Willesden Jn, then via the Kenny Olympia line to Clapham, then in to Waterloo. And if SWT wants to.... nah!

Cross Country, i am a care in the community case :D One, undisputable problem with 220's and 221's. They should of built corridor connections between units. Then if you ran 2 super voaygers couple together, you had 10 carriages to choose a seat in. Anti Modern? I havent got a problem with 170's or ...

They should reopen the old BREL facilities. Ashford BREL could re-open, needs a good lick of paint too. Eastliegh is still open for sure what about York? No, the fact of the matter is, if Alstom cannot supply the UK rail industry with UK facilities, it should sell those facilities to someone who ca...

Seen that, got posted up on T-S.com a while ago. No calls for public enquiries? No blaming of every 'profit hungry fat-cat'? Damn, can we import the US media? Might make a change from the whiging bunch of hypocritical journos we have here, who, quite frankly, expect everyone to be perfect. To paraph...

The way I see it is, there are 3 problems with Alstom UK. Firstly, Alstom is a FRENCH company, and without trying to sound xenophobic, is likely to keep its French plants open. This may be also due to pressures from those under Jaques C. Employment/Redundancy laws are also much tighter in France and...

However, Leyland Atlanteans and Daimler Fleetlines are not quite the same, different rear grilles and the rear window is recessed in...
