Richard, I for one won't argue with you as I couldn't distinguish one from the other. Do you have, or can you borrow (won't ask you to steal  ) a camcorder? If so then it will be good enough to get a recording adequate for use in MSTS. If you can get the sounds I'd happily do the eitting etc t...

Re: About the recordings

Hi all -Alan Can i change the KHZ without asking for anothre recording? Many Thanks Richaed lowe The only time that file format really matters is for the final .wav file that is saved into MSTS for use. Record & edit in any format if necessary. When you have the final product open the file from the...

Mike, I too am glad to have the compiling back working. Excellant work. Can I ask if you will e-mail me the hacked newshafe.bnf file as I believe the author has stated it's not to be distributed by uploading?

A number of postings have been made over at trainsim.com regarding audigy cards. The answer seems to be to turn down the hardware accelaration in directx.

Go to the Start menu and select Run. Type in dxdiag, and hit enter. Select the Sound tag and move the slider to the left.

Excellant news!! I look forward to hours of downloading the samples! Matt, just a thought. Any possiblity of being able to hear the samples direct from the database? Steaming, or something? Also, here http://www.findsounds.com/ISAPI/search.dll they create little graphics of the actual sound ...

Getting hold of sound samples is not an easy task. There isn't much available on the web, and what there is, whilst it is ok, doesn't give us all that we could use. Sampling off CD's, tapes etc..... not an option is it! But it is probable that many of us have recordings we have made ourselves (inclu...

As with any withdrawn class whilst they may regularly work preserved lines now they barely ever get their engines into the top ranges, so it's these samples that are hardest to acquire. When engines are used on the mainline they can stretch their legs but then lineside recordings are very poor due t...

The reality is that MSTS's sound system wasn't designed with the needs of steam engines in mind. So there aren't any REALLY decent sounds around, only the improvements on the default sounds that a few, like me, have done. There is no official documentation on the sound system. People learn from tria...

Latimars, Do I take it you mean that the old A1 Upgrade Set files sounded ok, but the new ones don't? If so that should not be the case. As the sounds are playing then you must have installed them ok. As a first attempt I would suggest downloading them again and re-installing. Those .sms files do se...
