Re: Tube Strike From 1859 TODAY for 48 hours
Kinda makes me wish I hadn't moved out of London. Could've done with a couple of days off.

The article doesn't say how long the franchise will run though.

Re: Southeastern Class 395 start passenger services end of June!
The whole thing's a con anyway if you live on the North Kent Coast. In order to make the journey times competitive, they've had to add stops to the Victoria services so that they're slightly slower than the St Panrcas services.

Re: The National network and "works" on the lines.
There is a huge resignalling scheme going on the the Colchester-Walton/Clacton line at the moment, there was an article in last months Today's Railways UK. Apparently, Frinton will be losing the crossing gates in this scheme too. The order for removing the gates should have been signed by the gover...

Are there still plans to reinstate the Great Central as far as Rugby? I remember that being mooted a few years back.

Re: Why don't our train interiors looks like this...
I always liked the interiors of the 175s and 180s; much better than the Turbostars, though the ride left something to be desired.

BR was shutting branches back in the 50s, but had to re-open the Bluebell line for the "sulky serivce".

Re: Replacements for Class 313 and all look alikes
DOO Doh! Thanks very much. But seriously why are the 313s still running up here and all the good trains are 3rd Rail, its quite boring, i'd prefer a TurboStar on local routes instead of a 313 least you'll move or is it due to noise regulations, they are a bit noisy those Turbostars. because before ...

Re: Replacements for Class 313 and all look alikes
The 378s have been seen tested, on youtube people have filmed the testing around i think it's south london, but they look good, the class 150s are terrible, waiting for a DMU at a train station, the bus is quicker. The 377s are nice, but the doors don't open when you reach Victoria for about 2 minu...

Re: London Midland Class 350 at selhurst?
Having re-read the article in this months Modern Railways, it seems the 350/1 operation of this service is purely to cover the delays in production of the 377/5s for FCC at Bombardier.

Re: New Victoria Line Trains
Hopefully once the 2009 stock is in service, the Vic line should be a tad cooler as the regenerative brakes should produce less heat than the friction braking on the 1967 stock.

Re: London Midland Class 350 at selhurst?
The 350/1s are dual voltage. Apparently there's a plan to use them on the Milton Keynes-East Croydon service run by Southern to free up the 377/2s. This will enable the last few 319s operated by Southern to be finally cascaded to FCC. To cover for the use of the 350/1s, LM will hold on to a few 321s.

I think Mallard got there during the locomotive trials after nationalisation. An A3 might have got there during the LNER/GWR exchanges in the twenties.
